Just received my new AJE tubular K-member/front suspension for my '72 E-body race car. If anyone on here has installed one of these, do you have any tips or any don't do's that would be helpful? Thanks in advance for suggestions or help.

I have heard/seen that from alot of other posts also, but I figured I would leave it up to the people who have had them for their responses.

Larry Boyd has the latest version on his 68 Gtx.
It fit good and aligned nice. About 1/16-1/8" bump steer. It is a race car though.

I have an AJE tubular front suspension on my Demon. I love it. I don’t remember there being any “trick” to installing the k-member itself. Was pretty easy as it’s only 4 bolts to the frame. The upper shock mount I know was more challenging and my friend helped me accomplish getting it mounted. My car is also far from stock in the engine Bay Area so I am not sure what you may run into when installing yours with full inner fenders. The upper control arms gave me tons of positive caster, I believe 7 degrees. I love that my shocks are mounted straight up and down and not on an angle like OEM or the QA1 tubular front end. We did put front end limiters on the car. Upgrading from OEM to the AJE tubular front end was a good investment. Well worth the money.

I just got a kit from AJE as well and will be installing it over the next few weeks in my Challenger. I'm going to shoot for as much front travel as I can get, so I may be fabricating my own upper shock mounts. I saw all the negative posts as well and decided to make a phone call to AJE. Based on the conversation, I felt that they had addressed the legitimate issues that people had with their stuff. The biggest issues IMO were Ackerman and the way the lower ball joint attached to the spindle and steering arm. That used to be a 2 piece aluminum piece and now it's a welded assembly that's pretty stout. It also appears to have a lot more Ackerman built into the steering arm geometry. Time will tell! I have a QA1 on the car now and decided I can't be stubborn and need to lose the T-bars. I would say fit and finish and weld quality appears slightly better on the QA1, but I don't see it as worlds apart.

And that Demon is bad *ss!

Thank you. I didn’t know about moparts when I bought my AJE suspension to look into what other people’s experience were. I truly didn’t even know there was an issue with them until this current thread. I’m shocked to read that because they treated me great and I’m very happy with their suspension.

My kit was one of the very first ones he did. He ended up sending me all kinds of updated parts including a K frame and 3 sets of lower arms. We never could get the bump steer out of it. It also had beautiful powder coating covering up crap welds.

Hopefully he's been learning.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm glad to see that I'm not alone with this front end kit. I too, had heard some negative stuff about the AJE front set up, but was mostly with the older street kits. The folks with the race set ups were generally pleased. One of the biggest draws for me was the ability to use my spindles, wheels, alum hubs & strange brakes. Another positive for me is almost every picture that I see with this set up, the car has the wheels in the air, so it should be able to take that kind of abuse.

Thanks, Brian
