Anyone have a source to have the pistol grip made out of real wood. Trying to find someone to make the grip out of padauk to match my dash and console. Paid idle hands 2 years ago and never got them and he doesn't respond to email any more. Saw some posts from over 5 years ago on some of the other forums, but users don't seem to be active anymore.

I make my own, Im NOT a wood guy, but I can run a dremel, a band saw, and use a die grinder. I used rose wood on this set, but Ive used cocobola, oak, even a set out of walnut.

“Gunslinger” was the guy that made them for years, but he retired back around 05-10. I have a set of his in Cocobolo. Does seem like that would be opportunity for some guy to pop out a couple hundred sets and sell em for oh, I don’t know…$100?

Gunslinger is who I got mine from when he sold out his remaining stock. I have had several people ask me where I got mine. I to wish someone would step up and hammer out some.

I do know a guy that may do it. He would need a sample obviously and an idea of how may would actually buy them at what price. If someone has a drawing and or Pic's with a scale/ruler I can run it by him

I don't think $100 would be worth the time and effort. These days the self-employed labor rate is about $100/hour.

I have a set of plastic grips he could use for measurements or templates.

If my old brain remembers correctly, he was selling them for around $120, but during his closeout sale I got mine for $75 plus shipping.

The only cost effective way would be a CNC router.

I have a buddy with a small CNC machine, and Im pretty sure he has one of those pin point thingies that you point plot the part and it builds the program. the biggest issue would be holding it in a fixture, unless you put a big block of wood, it makes the parts and you use a scroll saw to cut it off the main block.

I can talk with Aaron about it. If its worth his time, and there are people who would buy them to have a steady market, it could be done via CNC at a lower cost, im thinking 100-125 pr set. Sadly the woods that look the best are VERY SPENDY! and like the rose wood I used it is currently not being shipped to the US. its an endangered wood I guess. I bought up the pieces I used from a pretty good buddy who bought up inventory out of a warehouse in california and drove to the warehouse from Nebraska and rented a U haul and brought 8000 dollars of exotic wood home to his teeny garage....

Yeah, being able to get the wood at a decent price would be key, thankfully each blank is pretty darn small. Also a big mfg point is the backsides are flat.

Yessir! 100% its key to possibly doing a run of one side and then a run of the other just pick the wood with the coolest grain and go. Ive thought of doing a set with Burl and do a metallic epoxy thats the main colors, Blue, Red, Orange, Green, Yellow, Black, Silver, and Purple and it could be a cool little custom touch.

For the life of me I can't remember his name. I don't recall seeing him post in quite a while now that I that I think about it.

There was someone, there was also someone doing custom engraved shifter handles. I have one on the wall of my shop that was out of a 70 Roadrunner. The grips are an absolutely gorgeous orange tinted wood with a stick engraved 'Stick Chick' instead of Hurst.
