Have points in the car, and would like to get one just to be able to check and make sure it is what I think it is.

I see everything from $40 meters on Amazon, some is which don’t have great reviews, to old, untested ones on eBay.

Anyone have something they like and can recommend?

Watch garage sales. You'll pick one up for literally just a few bucks, as most people have no idea what a dwell meter even is these days. Same thing with timing lights. And it'll be better made than anything you'll find current on Amazon

I recently bought a Actron CP7677, works fine, matches what my old 80's era dwell meter reads. OF course it is now discontinued, lol.

Klein is reputable for general use. How is the 6-pack, Hemi Roadrunner doing?

Sorry, Mic. I'm working on the house and was thinking multi meter. Disregard.

I got a Kar Check brand off eBay a couple years ago. I suppose it works ok. Does tach dwell and points.

I want my fair share

How about putting an ad on local craigslist, or facebook marketplace? That way you could try it to insure it works (just bring a points car that you know the dwell, or, risk the 5 or 20 bucks it might run.
Over the years I've picked up a few at garage sales. They all read just about the same. I have my first one a RAC 560 that I've had since early 70's still works fine (although I always thought it "cheap junk") .
Craftsman are generally a good name brand in their wrapper. My favorite is an small old chrome sun branded.
Keep in mind many are just sitting around not used by homeowners.

I recently bought the CP7678 with a few more features to replace my original trusty Sunpro version. The RPM was off by 300 and the volt meter off by point .2 volt. Always double check what you get.

My old Craftsman served me well for many years. I think my MSD killed it. Just another post-retirement project now.......

I think Klein might make an automotive analyzer with dwell. Came up in my search, but didn’t look at the details.

Car is doing well, something up, either points, condenser or coil. Hence wanting to be sure where the dwell is.

How’s the cuda?

Just a heads up for anyone looking for a deal on a fully loaded Craftsman. NapaOnline has these on sale for pretty cheap. And they have a 10 dollar off promo code that makes it even sweeter. The deal is though, if you use the code it drops the price to under 35 so you lose out on free shipping. I added in a 3 dollar gasket I'll eventually return to get the free shipping and it brought my price down to under 33 bucks delivered.

Is your Dizzy a factory dual point? I have my original on the shelf if you want to test those parts. It puts out a nice strong blue spark.

This is a bit pricey, but does the job and then some.

Yes, mine is an original, rebuilt it a few years ago. Was working well until the strap for the condenser rubbed through the insulation and was shorting against the distributor wall! I may just have an another bad condenser in there, so trying to figure that out

Likely caused by the vacuum advance plate moving if you had it hooked up. Had an electronic that broke one of the pickup wires internally years ago. It was a fun one to find wink beer

Yep, exactly what it was! Mine was very easy to find, as a friend said “looks like the condenser strap is rubbing against the distributor.”

The one I mentiooned was not so obvious LOL, the car would just randomly die but would start right back up. It could be 30 seconds or 30 miles before it happened again 🤪🤪🤣
