I just put my 6.1 hemi back together with HHP ported heads, ported stock intake and their stage 2 cam. I’m using fast xfi 2.0 and xim to run the motor. Before the heads and cam the motor ram great but now that it’s back together it is extremely rich in the passenger side bank, so rich that it pours raw gas out of the rear 3 cylinders on the passenger side. Also it back fires while it’s cranking bad enough it will catch fire at the passenger side collector. I understand the tune that was on the motor when it was stock might not be perfect for the larger cam but I figured it would at least get me down the road until I can get it tuned by a professional. I feel like it’s worth mentioning that when I was running the motor stock i was only using XFI 1.0. I’m not very familiar with efi at all but I figured I might try some of the xfi 2.0 stock tunes that come with the program and oddly enough the couple stock tunes I tried at least fire the truck with no back firing but still had the richness issue in the passenger side bank. As far as I’m aware all my sensors are functioning correctly map is at 100 key on and my fuel pressure is at 45 psi for injectors that are rated for 50 lbs/hr at 46 psi. The whole issue would make sense to me if it was rich across the board but realistically the problem lies in 3 cylinders, the truck goes to the tuner November 14. I would like to get this sorted out because winter is quickly approaching in northwest PA and I’d like to save some time and money on the dyno.
Any input or tips are appreciated thank you!

Probably up scope twocents
OP, don't drive it that way anymore, get if fixed now before you start hurting inside parts badly, pistons, rings, backfire through the intake system running the plastic intake manifold and a possible fire afterwards tsk work
your lucky that it is not hurt badly by now shock shruggy

I thought the same thing, I should have mentioned in my first post that I switched the injectors bank to bank and the issue stayed in the same place

I've never run that system, can it tell you duty cycle per injector or just overall?

I’m not sure I’ll have to check tonight, also I’m not sure what that means will it till me how hard one injector is working versus another? I’m also learning that it’s seems the Holley sniper has pretty much run xfi off the map

The Sniper system isn't in the same category as the XFI. Holley's HP and Dominator systems are closer to the XFI 2.0 systems. The XFI system is a very capable system and should run your engine well. Your problem is in your installation. Are you sure the passenger side bank is firing the plugs at the right time or at all?

Contact Rich at Fastman EFI. He has dealt with this issue before. https://www.fastmanefi.com/

That’s the thing it is firing the spark plugs cause as soon as it turns over it sounds good and happy then with in a couple seconds it soaks the plugs and starts breaking up. If it is within my installation I’m not sure what it could be because if it were a poor ground I wouldn’t think I would be having issues else where. I’ve gone as far to check my grounds with a meter and haven’t seen any changes. Do you have any other possible ideas of something I may have missed on installation?

Interesting. Have you run a data log right after start-up to see what the pulsewidth is to the injectors?

the tunes and the software for 1.0 and 2.0 are a bit different. there were some changes to the firmware that causes the need for different parameters. Which version is your ecu for ? Which version of the software are you using on your laptop ? I just sent a XFI 1.0 box with ITC in to be upgraded to 2.0..

I’m going to try and give that another shot this weekend and see what it says but even if that ends up being the issue I don’t understand what would cause those injectors to go rogue there brand new.

So I started with 1.0 on the box and 1.0 on the computer using the dell laptop I got when I bought the swap truck and as far as I know both were the earliest versions of the software. I called fast and they sent me the update file for each and I did the update my self bringing the box to xfi 2.05 and my newer computer to what ever they said was the latest program. From there I was still unaware of the parameter changes you had mentioned and was still having issues. Next I found the video on how to update your 1.0 tunes to work with 2.0 like zeroing the individual cylinder corrections table and a couple others power adder configuration is turned off aswell. The thing I thought was odd is in the video his individual cylinder corrections table read 0-4500 rpm in either 500 or 1000 rpm increments but mine before I zeroed the table and changed the value read only 12,500 rpm meaning every input on the horizontal axis read 12,500 rpm while the vertical axis reads cylinders 1-8 and I believe listed in firing order

Well I believe I’ve found my issue after speaking with Richard Nedbal at fastmanefi, who was incredibly helpful, I do believe that the injector drivers within my xfi unit have gone bad. Upon some further digging I have also discovered that fast no longer has any sort of support for there products. In 2016 or 17 after the completion of xfi 2.05 they wanted to move the software engineers to Kentucky from Michigan. The engineers did not like this and weather they quit or were fired I’m not sure but as far as fast goes for support there’s 2 highschool kids that answer the phone after HOURS on hold and they don’t know much. But as far as I know there is nothing for support at fast anymore maybe someone else has more information and obviously take what I’m saying with a grain of salt but over the last couple months through all my research it seems to make sense. If you do any digging on your own you won’t find any forums speaking about fast efi any time after 2016 or 2017. Today i am going to try and see who I can get ahold of at fast or anywhere in their company chain to see what they will do for me and I will post any updates I find. Thank you to everyone who responded to this thread and Richard nedbal who is certainly the subject matter expert on all things efi. Also maybe anyone on here who attempted sema or any big event like that I’d be curious to see what kind of display fast has if anything at all!

I told you Rich was the man. He helped me a lot when I was doing my EFI conversion. He spent quite a few hours helping me sort things out.

About 2 1/2 weeks ago I sent in a black ecu with ITC to be updated from 1.0 to 2.0. It's due to be delivered to me this afternoon, so there absolutely is support , I just do not know to what extent repairs can or will be made.. I have had xfi since just after 2.0 was released. I found early on that almost no one would share tune files. You could find some info, but not much. You either had to take courses, pay a pro to tune or figure it out on your own. I figured it out on my own. In doing research 10-15 years ago, I found the situation to be similar with most of the other commercially available controllers.

A few years back when I updated the firmware in my original 2.0 box, I found it easiest to start over from scratch with an all new tune and not reuse or attempt to update any old tune files.

How sure are you your firing order is correct... Also sure your valvetrain has correct pushrod lengths etc?

well my issue has been resolved my issue did end up being a bad injector driver in my xfi box. Unfortunately I could not find the original invoice for the xfi box so It did cost me 500 dollars all said and done to have it fixed. FAST is still a company they certainly are a bit harder to get ahold of then they were in years past, I cant speak of any other fast department but this phone number 800-365-9145 extension 9892 will take you straight to fasts warranty desk and the guy handeling the phones is pretty helpful it took a week to get my box back which was nice. one other thing if you have lost your invoice and are trying to make a warranty claim fasts system changed so they only have records to like 2014 so its a roll of the dice if they will be able to find an invoice. thanks moparts!
