That all depends on if its a billet core cam, or not, If its not, then no, if it is, yes. You will have to ask them as some I have installed have been either way.

I went with one of their 'retro' hydraulic rollers in my 440 and it was a steel billet cam and accordingly required a bronze gear. I also went with a 'torrington' style cam gear as well as a Comp rollerized cam button. So far, so good!

I understand the billet steel thing but I know that Crane used to make their retro Hydraulic rollers so you didn't need a bronz gear. Just was wondering if Comp did the same as Crane is gone.

Yes Crane had retrofit roller cams that did not require a bronze gear. I have a Comp Cams retrofit roller in mine and it requires a bronze gear.

my lunait roller has a pressed on iron gear and does not need the bronze gear

some do,some dont,ask Mfg for info on the cam you select
