Thanks guys It will be going to the dragstrip soon. In street trim on the road race tires (so 4270 race weight, 4100 without me). Just installed a 4.56 and ordered a carbon fiber driveshaft so I can raise the rev limiter.


DGS I forgot to respond, it's only that close now to get the alignment correct while building it. When done I'll trim it back for more clearance and connect the two with a rubber coupler. (Though there is little movement with the schumacher motor mounts)

I dropped the inside edge of the top so the chrome dome would fit into it then rolled down the perimeter.

Those last two pictures deserve a 'like button'.

Thanks guys! Getting it ready for paint was more work than I thought.

Then of course, as I usually screw up the wrinkle paint, this one is no exception so I'm removing it all to try again.

I was happy to cut the top as I didn't like the little plug in the side of it for my non-existent breather hose. (it's just a reproduction)

Wrinkle paint on that much surface area is a be-otch to get consistent! I've done air cleaners and it takes some practice to make it look "right".

Much appreciated guys. Yeah I always have difficulty with the wrinkle paint. I have to see if it can be bought in a way I can shoot it through a gun. The VHT rattle can shoots it really narrow so hard (for me) to get it even without striping or dripping.

Anyway, it's not perfect but hours of stripping and painting later I'm happy with it. Just waiting a day or two for it to fully cure before I put the rubber coupler to the firewall duct on.

No idea if the dei heat shield stuff works or not but figured it can't hurt.
