i WORK at the original selling dealership.
if they haven't updated the article since i read this a couple of weeks ago. the selling dealership is HALL not Wall Chevrolet. they were a licensed DeLorean dealership. they still have the original dealership display sign by the road dealerships have..
when this first appeared the current owner went thru the records. found the sales original invoice, window sticker,, etc, etc and sent them to the buyer for free.

this car was the owners personal demo. the DMC 10 license plate was on the car from day one. if you don't know DMC 10 was the code for DeLorean cars.
i have heard that the current owner, his son, drove this car to his senior prom.

I have owned a Delorean. But never again. The car had over heating issues, wiring issues and was surprisingly slow, with the Peugeot-Renault-Volvo 2.85 L SOHC V6, rated at 130 hp.
You had to be careful where you parked, because is someone even got within 2 feet of the doors you had a hard time entering the vehicle.

I decided to really piss off the DMC lovers. I put a whale tail on, painted it red and painted the rims gold.

As a kid watching Back to the Future, I too had a hankering for one. Almost pulled the trigger a couple times back when they were $4000-$5000 dollar cars, but then I made an acquaintance at a car show who owned one. An automatic one. He took me for a ride one day after a show and while it was fun, it was anything BUT exciting. He told me how fuel mileage was abysmal because you've practically got to floor it to go anywhere. Add in the fact we live in a Hilly area (my brother calls it The Himalayas) and the less owning the car maed any sense. People used to tell me a slant 6 was adequate in a Dart.... and then I had my Swinger which barely travelled at the speed of smell. Again, going anywhere required climbing a mountain pass and the Swinger was like the Delorean .... holding second gear at maybe 35 mph. Push it too hard and you overheat. My 232 3-speed Gremlin climbs hills like they're not even there in comparison. (I still own my Gremlin, the Swinger is long gone).

I'm hoping my next big purchase to either be another AMC SX/4 (I owned one in my youth and LOVED it) or a Bricklin. Would prefer a '74 AMC-powered Brick .... four-speed would be the cats pajamas.
