All BB Mopar cranks have a built in slinger between the rear main bearing and he rear main seal that fits into receiver groove in the block that prevent oil under pressure from trying to flood the main seals scope up scope wrench

Did you use any stiffeners to support the RTV? Many use pipe cleaners wink

anti-leak main bearings as per the 1999 DC catalog.....[can't say if these are still available,or if the part numbers have been superseded]

P4349004 - B tri-metal std. size, P4876644 - tri-metal .010 undersize

P4349045 - RB/Hemi std. size, P4876645 - RB/Hemi .010 undersize

when looking at the included picture, it appears to show two very slight grooves on each side of the oil feed hole running from the bearing groove toward the inside of the engine.
as it only shows that on one bearing half, with the other bearing half laying on it's side with it's back side showing, i don't know if it's ths same or not.
as to the pipe cleaners, i would rather pack the side grooves completely with hi-temp rtv "adhesive" as opposed to regular old rtv.
beer

My understanding is the pipe cleaners are used to fill the gap as well as "stiffen" the RTV to prevent blowing it out with excess crankcase pressure up beer

The pipe cleaner is intended to be dipped in water before installing it into the RTV-filled side cavities. RTV requires humidity to cure properly. Installation instructions within the RMB seal kit should explain this matter.

Regarding rope seals, they were originally introduced decades ago to accommodate a wide range of dimensions for the rope seal... and... those rope seals decades ago were made of asbestos (although conformable and easy to cut with a razor blade)... which has been discontinued nearly 30+ years ago from the industry. The replacement materials -- primarily which include Kevlar -- is the best material, but... extremely difficult to cut... and time-consuming to cut properly (needs a very sharp serrated blade). Rubber seals for the BB may not fit into the grooves properly due to a wide range of dimensions from a wide range of years for the BB.

I did years of testing different materials of non-asbestos rope seals when I worked for Fel-Pro as an applications engineer. We settled on a specific material that worked the best. Possibly, some other vendors are using that same/similar material, but again, not the best such as the good old asbestos material rope ... long time discontinued.

Yes, we use them all Mopar big blocks as well as on other engines when they are available. Sometimes they work great, sometimes they don't.
