We picked up Larry's Challenger yesterday from paint. The car looks good, it's painted the new B5 Blue. Next he's having the graphic work done. He's already worknig on the engine, and trans.
Enjoy...

WOW! It looks killer in B5 blue. I saw some Chargers on the dealer lots in B5 and it didn't anywhere close to that color. They looked like a faded blue metallic. Why didn't they paint the underside of the trunk lid? It looks like crap with that white paint under there. Did they spray the door jambs or leave them white too?

They left underneath the trunk as-delivered white, because it was signed by some of the people who were involved in the whole project from day one when the car was picked up in Detroit...

I think he's taking to have the graphics put on next, then he still has the drivline, and rest of the interior(which is almost done)... Larry's still working on the new 6.1L Hemi and after it has a couple of Dyno pulls he'll install it... I'm going to try to get out there whenever he asks to document the development of the car as well as I can. I'm really looking forward to see what it will turn.

I'm not totally sure on that, so don't quote me... I think that Larry Pontanac will drive at a couple events, and that eventually he will have his own car to race, so that they will be a two car team.

Maybe should have bought another deck lid and put that one on the car and stored this one for display? If it was Donato's signature, I'd take lacquer thinner and remove it from my car.

Any info you can share on the engine. I am gathering pieces for s SS/GT 5.7 project and have some question areas. Don't seem to be able to find a good timing chain/belt drive. NHRA has very little info on the blueprint spec site. Are the valves hollow stem like the stock 6.1 or did Mopar go solid when they put the larger ones in. If they went to larger sodium filled, like the stock exhaust, we could use titanium. Who did the heads and what did they use for I&E cc volume numbers. Again NHRA has none listed and I have not been able to get a response from them on the valve or cc questions.
Is there anyone I can talk to about the engine?
Thanks
Stewart

Indy Cylinder Head did the 6.1 in Doug Duell's car. They might be able to help.

I know he picked up a 6.1L out of a wrecked Magnum SRT that he's currently working on.. I know him and Larry Pontanac are doing alot of the work, and I think he's getting some information from John Donato, even though John is no longer with the factory. I hope to get out to his shop before I leave for the Power Tour to get some more pictures, so I'll have more info by then.

Is that the VFN "Tall" Six pack scoop or something different?

Looks cool....the 15" wheels look like roller skate wheels with the long wheelbase and huge wheelwell!!
