Most of those "budget" Mopars were clones and/or had some weird "restoration" choices.
There was a '67 Coronet, red/red with Cragars, that appeared pretty nice - think it went for low 20s.
Several cars went to Bid Goes On; on a couple it seemed there was no money in the room.
That Q5 Dart GTS - discussed on its own thread - pulled low 40s.

I looked at the GTS up close and personal. It had quarters replaced, and the trunk drop down on the drivers side was patched but not very well, the passenger side looked good though. Looked like original sheet elsewhere but I couldn't look in the trunk but in the thread I already posted that it was a 67 lid. Not numbers matching engine, in fact there were no numbers on the pad near the distributor and I couldn't see the date code and VIN pad on the block. I was there to inspect it for a buyer and he as out at $35K, but I was sitting near the guy in the balcony that bought it, he seemed happy...

I have been casually looking for another car after selling off everything back in 2015. Prices seem to be coming back down a tad bit. Not going to get in a hurry but definitely in the last 2-3 months I have seen more cars that peek my interest at a fair price.

Depends on how old the OP is. Us boomers are going to outlive most millenials... penguin

And thirty years ago people said the price of Model A’s would soon collapse, they haven’t yet.

I want to be able to enjoy it. I am not a spring chicken myself. My main issue is I like to many body styles but only want one car this time around! 🤪

It definitely happens. I started selling stuff off in 2015 because my dad was showing signs of dementia. It was at that same time my mom suddenly passed away. Then I really got serious about selling off everything I had Mopar muscle car related. I spent the next few years helping my dad until it just became to much to manage. He passed in mid 2022. I am so glad I had the foresight to clear out my collection before he got to the point he could not enjoy them any longer. I didn’t have to worry about cars for those years. Now that we have all that settled I am thinking it is time to enjoy the hobby again on a MUCH smaller scale.

Several factors playing into an imminent dip or even crash in prices. Boomers are getting older and even if they are not dying they are selling stuff they can't enjoy much anymore. Same thing happened to the guys who were all into T buckets and model As and chop top cruisers... over time those guys interested in them get old and die and the demand drops off...

Also the economy has been on the teeters for a while, it can only take so much interest rate hikes and $4+ gallon gas before people have to start cutting back somewhere.

I am not causing global warming, I am just trying to hold off a impending Ice Age!

A serious conversation can't be had about any collectible market without taking into account the true condition of what's sold. From my experience, there are plenty of people who comment on the market, that aren't in the room where it happens. Recently at Hershey RM had an auction and there were a lot of comments about the cars being sold. I was there, crawled all over the cars because I know I'm going to be asked about the forward look cars. Pictures were available, all shot from the 20' away. The cars went for market appropriate values, in some cases quite a bit over, but people screamed the market was falling. I feel confident pricing a restored car from the era I specialize in. If a restored car sells for 120-150k, where do you price a driver car with decent/good paint? One that's original underneath, needs various pot metal replaced, but displays well as a driver? If you restored it, you're 100k into that restoration, so you're going to be upside down. To me, that's a car that sells for 60-80k. The buyer is someone who either has the in house skills to do all the work needed to elevate the car or someone that isn't in the market at 120-150k and this is their opportunity to own it. If you don't understand the condition of the car, you scream the market is falling because this "restored" car went from 75-80k, because you think it should be 120-150.

A LOT of factors going into the evaluation of the market. It's never as clear cut as most want it to be. The one staple, is that the top 5% of cars can't truly be priced as the best will always be coveted by a broader range of collectors.
