What are the policies at the tracks you guys race at?
I usually race at Osceola Dragway(IHRA),and through the last few years, they always gave back your tech card and wrote car and driver on it for re-entry.
Last Sunday my wife and I were both racing, and after several "mishaps" at the track,we got rained-out after first round. We both had won our first rounds, and the tech cards came back with "car only" written on them.
Seems stupid to me that a car can be entered but I have to pay to get the driver back in to race.

Seattle's track (Pacific Raceways) is notorious for this. Keep in mind rain in Seattle is not exactly rare.
When it starts raining, they close down the track, obviously. They then tell you the foracast over the loudspeakers. Over and over, while saying they are waiting to get restarted. This can go on for hours. The sky could be black but they will wait until about 3/4 of the field has left before calling the event and issuing return passes.
The passes do get car and driver back in though.

The worst part was the track owner telling us it had always been this way.I have been there for dozens of rainouts, and this was a first.
He then stated that we "got to see a show" so we should have to pay to get back in.
The 2 1/2 hour oildown was the only "show" I remember.Anyway,I'll stop my ranting,I just wondered if anybody had ever heard of a car re-entry without a driver elsewhere.

Since he said you got to see a show you should have
charged him for being part of the entertainment
(part of the cast)

Honestly...I don't blame them for having a policy for keeping some percentage (but they should make it clear from the getgo). Because they still have overhead for the day such as track workers, track prep, etc.

But you should know from the start what to expect.

Once eliminations start , no rain check. Rain out during time trials gets tech card back for car and driver for next week.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

That is my thought exactly, don't tell me it has always been that way.If they want to start a new policy, that is their right, but they tend to make rules up as they go along, and nothing is ever in writing.
Thanks for the input!!

Maybe a percentage of the spectater fees should get added to the purse since there'd be no "show" without race cars.

And as far as payouts go,....our track only pays back four places,no round money. So you should get back in to race in all fairness if it rains out.

at my local track you use your ticket stub as a rain check. once eliminations start no rain checks. they split entire pot equal.

IIRC our local track charges 5 bucks for each time trial you get in before a rainout (total of 3). If they get in 1st round, you are SOL. They usually let the racers vote on a split purse or lottery. They do have to cover the cost of opening the gates.

At Summit Motorsports Park on our points races your wristband is your car and driver rain check, and it never expires. So you can use it next year if you like. If eliminations has started and a class hasn't finished, the winning drivers and those who haven't made an elimination pass will have rain checks (no points awarded if round is not completed). If 1 round is complete in a class it is considered an event. Lucky for the racers at Norwalk they have the best track equipment, and can race after a downpour.

Usually here if one round or eliminations is complete everybody left will split the pot. If no eliminations have been completed we get our tech cards back for entry at the next race. They may be chaging you for your time trials.

My local track, State Capitol Raceway, Baton Rouge, you can either go to the tower and get your card or they will have your card at the gate at the next race. Car and driver gets back in free. If there were rounds run, you get the points for the rounds that you won. Although I was told that they usually don't do this but they have let me in the next race with my spectator wrist band due to me letting a friend drive the car while I wait for back surgery, (May 26th, this comming). State Capitol is a VERY racer friendly track. I have never raced at our other track, No Problem Raceway, but I hear there is about the same rules in affect but couldnt tell you for sure.

Our track at Bunkerhill if one round is complete it's a rainout and a split of purse for remaining cars

That is how Maryland International Raceway does it.

The way I understand it is. The track kept the purse and now they want to charge him $10.00 to get back in with his car. Does'nt seem right if I'm correct.

Don't care.....I am so thankful that I have a local track to race at, that I just do not care what the policy is. Especially as I watch the annual oil company's summer price increase [gouge] start to take hold. Coupled with the fact that they are losing money at my local track. they actually have a $0.00 payout plan, and it just does not bother me in the least. It is still the cheapest racing I can do.

Exactly. If they split the pot or something it would be different.
They also mentioned they "might" run this race out,and have another one this weekend.Anyone that has ever raced at this track knows they could never pull off two events in one day!
