Picked up a Samsung monitor at wally world, Plugged it in, couldn't see ๐ฉ, then I took my welding helmet off, did a few tweaks to the monitor settings and SHAZAM ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ all is well. I'm thinking there was something wiggy with the Phillips monitor. The first replacement as I said was fine but kept randomly going blank, so I Tried the Philips, Bad idea. For the recent suggestions offered Yes I did try tweaking the windows and monitor settings. Never did get a call back from Philips which used to be a good company. I did stumble across the following which I was not able to reconcile. And there is nothing new their currently. The below is above my pay grade but it might make sense to somebody so I thought I'd include it. Thanks for the assistance, sometimes its just the comradery that helps

There are few times on the internet I wish I had had mine on. I guess the helmet works for visual viruses?

I can't say I've EVER seen a monitor show up in device manager with a problem, let alone see one set an event. Never have I bought a bad monitor, even used, two in a row, time to buy a lottery ticket. I'm glad you finally got it sorted out.

here's a monitor question. hope this isn't a jack........... is it possible to hook up two, use the same keyboard, but have them show different things at the same time ? Something like so? video card with 4 outputs.

Something like so? video card with 4 outputs. had to ask as I'm illiterate on the subject but, your picture shows 1 of the 4 connections is different. Is that an in or and out? Nope, no in and out on this video card, output only. Three of the outputs are Display Port, the last is HDMI. and Why are they different I'd guess most folks just run one monitor, so there's a choice of DP and HDMI? I'd have preferred all 4 be DP. Beggars and choosers... and I get quite frustrated with ๐ฉ I don't know or understand. And to be truthful it was one of the things I wondered about with the "problem" monitor as I was using the "different" one. Then they had one of the others labeled "DISPLAY Input" WTFO???? Display Input on the monitor is for the output of the video card. If there's a display output on the monitor, that gets you into daisy chaining. If you're familiar with antique speedy computers, it's a bit similar to SCSI chains. Let's say you've got only one video output on your video card, you can use the monitor video inputs and outputs to hook up multiple monitors, as long as they're all DP's and your video card has adequate horsepower. Then there's DP 1.2 and 1.4, can't recall off hand which one is needed for daisy chaining. I tried to be clear and complete here, I've been doing it a long time so I've probably left something out, just ask.

Based on the cost of a high performance single 4K HDMI output video card, I can't imagine the cost for what is likely a rather rare 4Kx4 card would cost nor the real need, nor the power it would consume, while stressing the computer PS.

No worries, I can afford it. Had my vision deteriorated like this earlier, I might have gone with a large television as a monitor. C'est la vie. https://www.ebay.com/itm/134733085456?

Still a bit confused ( No surprise there ) original monitor used an HDMI cable, the first replacement only had a DP (dumb Pollock) connector. So I found a corresponding port on the computer and changed the cable. The current monitor used the same so it was plug and play So my question is (which is irrelevant at this point) which is better or does it matter? And thank you for responding

So my question is (which is irrelevant at this point) which is better or does it matter? And thank you for responding IMHO, Display Port is better, if only for the reason it avoids the issue HDMI sometimes has of over or under scanning. It's easily corrected in your video card software but I'd rather not have to fool with it. DP and HDMI both also carry audio signals, so there can be a bit less spaghetti behind the desk. 2ยข Just yesterday I went through a long process (couple hours) of trouble shooting a monitor that would not come on. I had it hooked up through the HDMI port of the video card, with a powered HDMI to DP adapter and a very long cheap DP cable. After determining there was nothing wrong with the video card output or the monitor, I got an even longer HDMI cable and resolved the problem. The monitor is a 2013 model, no under or over scan issue arose so things may have changed. Better video cards or better software, I've no idea. Just happy it worked.

Effectively better IMO, HDMI.
Reminds me of the quickly fell by the wayside better Video format, Betamax.

Sounds like me with the 3rd monitor
