How many quarts does an A-833 Hemi 4 speed hold? I have almost 5 quarts in it and it's still not seeping out the fill hole. Car is sitting level. I say almost 5 quarts b/c I can't get the last little bit out of the bottle with the pump I'm using.

Also, I'm using Mopar synthetic 75w90 gear and axle oil, I'm assuming it's compatible with any other synthetic gear oil of the same weight...correct? That may sound stupid, but this is a NICE car (my dad's 440-6 road runner) and I don't wanna have to do this over. The way my luck has run w/ MP stuff, I'd rather ask and be sure, lol.
Thanks, CHIP

My 6pk Bee i had with a 4spd. did not like that synthetic oil at all.In fact it was almost impossible to shift.I'm not saying throw it out, save it for another use somewhere down the road. But you're better off with a regular 75W90 gear oil and your syncrose will thank you for it.

I do not think you want to run synthetic in it!

I did and it will not power shift due to a lack of friction for syncros.

Was told to use GM syncromesh fluid in my next unit !

Well, my "73 service manual shows Dexron III fluid (learn something new everyday) 7-1/2 pints or roughly 4 quarts. I don't think I would use straight tranny fluid, though. After adding 5 quarts, you have to be real close to full, anyway. My boxes hold around 4-1/2 or 5 quarts.

i just switched from a synthetic axle oil 75-90 to redline mtl (manual trans lube) and it made a huge differeance in how it shifts. ive also read very good reports of penzoil synchromesh. the redline mtl is 70-80 wt.

It’s API GL-4 VS. API GL-5 rated gear lube is what makes the difference. GL-4 rated gear lubes (WHETHER SYNTHETIC OR PETROLEUM BASE) have the right formulation of friction modifiers to allow for proper manual transmission function.

The synthetics don’t work in transmissions is an outdated myth.

There are professional transmission builders on THIS board who have NO issues with using synthetic lubes in their manual or automatic transmissions.

Chip,

Trust me..... get Penzoil Syncromesh and put it in. It will shift so smooth. My dad even switched to it.

It's in a yellow quart bottle at any Pep Boys or auto parts store. Get 4 of them. It should take about 3.5 of those bottles......9 pints!
