As some of you know my recovery from Neurosurgery has been steady but slow. So been very limited. Physical therapy got me some stuff back as lost alot. But the rest is up to me. So been doing lots of easy small repetitive stuff.
So got out a set of covers i bought when i was 16 at the old now long gone Jake's Speed Shop.
They were wrinkled black.
Took some time in the shape i am in but was constructive. They do need a final clean.
Not sure if i am done and painting the inside the ribs or polishing them too.
Thoughts?

Looks great! I'm glad you're able to get back at it.

I remember from way back when the pics you posted of a transmission you were polishing.... shock

i have a question. where did you get the oil fill cap that lines up with the ribs ?
i have some edelbrock and MP covers, and the fill cap when tightened, sits at an angle to the fins. as you can guess, i don't like the look.

When i located the M/T Holley ones these were with them.
I had tank stripped, sanded and polished my 1973 340-4 ones only way i could afford plating on some stuff. And tjhe would do the copper, nickel, and chrome so been sitting in a box for a long time, since some way they bent the wire stand,. And i can't bend it back iwithou ruining the chrome Aahhhhhhh.
I don't know if it is I have fallen and I can't get up. Or Even Viagra won't work.

Good to hear you're recovering and motivated - Dad used to say "mind over matter".
After my detached-retina repair & cataract surgery, my close-up depth perception has been kinda wonky.
So I took up scale modeling to kinda force the issue, and it's helped.
Sometimes it's frustrating, but the blood of my stubborn-[censored] forebears is something of a propellant.
Aging isn't always smooth & easy, but it's better than the alternative, right?

Polished covers look great as always. Most people paint inside the fins as trying to polish them all out is a lot of work.

Chrome ones I would just bend the tab up and see what you get. If the one needs redone then there is no way around it

Those look really nice. No painting inside fins needed IMO.

Glad you're making progress! It's not easy to be suddenly stopped from what you're able to do, physically, and then it takes it's toll mentally.

Keep fighting back up

Thanks, slow going recovery said might not be a full recovery. And may need more surgery but would be in 2024.
I looked at paint i have on hand options are:
Light Silver (Ralley Wheel paint- light argent)
Med Gray ( Medium Argent)
And Black Semi or Gloss ( or waste some Black Organsol that would make guys mad lol.)
Or fully bling them up like i did with the trans pan i posred awhile back.
I was on.the same fence with it too. Might be to much bling but would be good PT and take forever?

I think they look fine as is, but if you want to polish the rest of the way go for it. It's your car so do it your way wink

Bare Aluiminum ends up white spotted when oxidized. So gotta shoot the inside the ribs.
