Were you able to look at the car in person? Or is this all based on the seller's closing comments? Nice codes on that fender tag!

That's another flag to really look deeply into a car. What we consider desirable options today were not that desirable back in the day.

When you see a car with a perfect combination of options, it's usually too good to be true. A car really needs to make a strong case to back those up. Not just tags, vins, stampings... start looking at body grafts, weld joints, deep hidden OE paint that doesn't match throughout the car.

I bring an endoscope and a selfie stick when looking at cars nowdays. Take a buddy to just shut up and take pictures. Then review pics at home at your own pace.

My guess is fake tag, but people in the know don't always want to share the how and why they know, because it will help the counterfeiters.
From my limited experience, I see some problems.

Regardless, the car probably didn't come from the factory with all those options.
With a fake tag, any buyer would want to verify the stampings too.

It appears that the seller is attempting to pass the car off as original to jack the price.

If numbers don't bother you, and all you want is a cool car, have at it!
But keep these issues in mind and disclose them when you go to sell.

My first thought was rustbucket and rebody.
Bragging about matching numbers, but no pics is always a potential warning.

From what I have seen here so far;

The fender tag has the VIN obscured, but it is a fake. NEVER trust a seller that obscures a VIN!

The dash VIN with VS29H1B449532 on it is a counterfeit which is a felony, so the car could be confiscated & impounded at any time. As such, it is a rolling crime scene that no one should buy. twocents

Bad fake fender tag. Code V24 should be Before V6X and V8x. It also has the upper door frames as TX9 it should be 5X8.
Also END2 should be EN2 (end second shift).

Original 340 71 Dusters with matching numbers are not an easy find anymore. I looked for several years for a 4 speed car never did find one for a reasonable price. Those cars were abused and hacked up to make into race cars and then junked. Good luck with your search automatics are an easier find than 4 speeds.

A friend of mine had a light blue #s matching 71 340 Duster 4 Speed back in the day. He modified the original 340 heavily with 11-1 pistons and a roller cam. He painted it In Violet FC7. Six pack fiberglass Hood and centerline Wheels. He didn't abuse the car (too much) but it looked nothing like it did originally after he got done, he sold it sometime in the mid-90s.. it's still around I believe.
