can anyone confirm if 72 Plymouth satellite rear frame rails. trunk floor. drop off extensions. basically, rear clip? is the same as 72 / 73 dodge charger? I'm thinking they are the same, but it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong! got a line on a couple to choose from but like to confirm before money changes hands.. TIA.

72 Charger yes
73 Charger different part numbers than 72. They changed the springs in 73 to isolated rear springs and it may have affected the rear spring mounts but not positive this is the difference. They may still work fine. Not 100% sure on that one.


Yes same part numbers in 72 & 73
74 will work but has a large hump under the spare tire for an emissions compliant gas tank.

The core will work but some differences. If you are talented enough to swap the frame rails you are talented enough to make it work IMHO.

Thanks.. I appreciate it .. I found a 71charger rear clip in same condition hundreds less and maybe even closer?? So I will be going that route. And yes I have just learned of the trunk floor difference in 74 a few months ago..

Frame rails between Dodge and Plymouth and also 2-dr and 4-dr will interchange. Trunk extensions, drop offs, are different between Dodge and Plymouth. 71-3 2-dr trunk pans are the same. 4-dr are an 1" longer.

The diff PN about the frame rails can be just due the way the bumper guards attachs, getting diff cut out provisioms for the “bracketing”

74s are diff from earliers also for this reason.

Being that, every year can get a diff PN, because 71s didn’t get the holes for the sway bar brackets. Not at least the earlier ones.
