Hey all,

Have any of you seen a 1967 fender with the added little tag and knows what it signifies?

The extra tag looks like it has a C and an M or H punched through it.
Almost all of the fender tag option codes are "1".

The car is a 1967 Plymouth Satellite hardtop with an H-code 4bbl 383, console shift automatic, AC, no dash clock, no passenger side mirror, no courtesy light package.

The owner knows a little about Mopars, but nowhere near an expert. He bought it a month ago, from a known "Mopar Guy" in the northeast.
It's a decent condition Gold exterior/Black interior car. Exterior was repainted, it has no GTX stripes or the upper body pinstripe.
The car has a few GTX pieces on it (hood scoops, lower side molding, flip-top gas cap, dual exhaust & tips) as if it was being cloned into a GTX, except all the Satellite emblems are still there, trunk, front fenders, glove box and rear seat, and the VIN is RP23 for a Satellite.

Could you option a Satellite with any GTX trim like the hood scoops?

The new owner has no idea about the differences between Satellite and GTX trim, and assumes it is all original to the car.
The new owner didn't get duped, the price he bought it for was really really fair for what it is.
It has a Broadcast sheet that is in a hundred little crispy pieces.

I'm really curious about the extra fender tag strip.

Inspector tag. Shows someone looked at the car and gave it the thumbs up! up

As far as the scoops & etc, a lot can happen to a car in 56 years - lots of those scoops were added.
Hood scoops were not an option, but included on GTXs.
A side photo of the car would be helpful, but:
Satellite trim would be a molding along lower body line with silver paint below that.
Being from the rust belt, I'd bet on rust repairs, Satellite moldings removed, and rocker moldings added.

The 440 power GTX and Dodge R/T were a mid year option in 1967, I remember seeing a 1967 Plymouth GTX for the first time and asking the owner what it was. He told me that those cars were special production cars that came with a street Hemi or 440 375 HP motor only. shruggy
The Road Runners and the Dodge Super Bee came out in 1968 work

The 1967 GTX & Coronet R/Ts were available with the 440 from the start of the model year.

On the '67 St. Louis Plymouth B-bodies I've seen, the inspection stamps were in the fender tag itself, not on a separate strip. Would be interesting to know what plant this car came from.

Thanks guys! Right! I remember seeing symbols punched right into some fendertags. My own Satellite has a 'arrow' style symbol punched into the fender tag, it's a St.Louis built car.
That adds some good info on this "mystery".

I'll ask my buddy what his plant code is, for some reason I didn't get a picture of his VIN tag.

Looks like the tag was originally bent over toward the front of car. Perhaps the one punch is an "R"?
Could the "C" be part of an incorrectly punched "P"?
Zoom into the image and one may see what I'm Referring.

VIN is RP23H75xxxxxx - This seems to be a Los Angeles, CA built Satellite.. so yeah, maybe the inspection tag got left behind or that's maybe how they released them from the assembly line..

Broadcast sheet can still be puzzled together.. or can at least read some of the option codes..
That will a project for another time.

Any idea what a C or P or R might stand for? Could they be anything other than final inspection marks?

Letters are the inspecters ID. Nothing mysterious or special meaning.

My 1972 Ralley 340 Challenger and 1971 318 Challenger both had tge ribbon strips with the fender tags. The inpector was supposed to brake off a little piece of the ribbon as went diwn.the line to Show they looked-checked something. Both had some still on it. So either not pulled off or not looked at
My Dusters was very long and looked like no one took any off

Me, I never thought they were to ID the inspector, especially on a Lynch Road Assembly ('69) fender tag. In other words if the mark was an "R" for Robert or Bob then what did Robert or Bod inspect that day on that model?? No way to tell what was inspected just that Robert or Bob put a "R" on a fender tag and then went back and wrote "ROCK" on the inner rear fender laugh2 I always thought it was to indicate something that may not be on a (Lynch Road) fender tag like an "R" for front fender radio antenna hole to be in the fender, as there is no Body-In-White info on a Lynch Road fender tag for a radio? I think those stamps are for what was inspected, verified and in place and that anyone doing that job put them there or even before they were in place, like the radio antenna hole in the fender. Still waiting for someone to show me on a Lynch Road Assembly metal fender tag something that is not used or important in Body-In-White (BIW) and Paint on the LR fender tag. Saying it is the inspector (person) would mean that "PAINT OK" is the inspector's name too. Paint OK worked a lot of shifts. wink

Not the inspectors name but his inspection station ID. An inspector on each shift inspecting that part or assembly would use the same stamp. rolleyes

This right here.
When I built aircraft, the inspectors were identified individually, but autos don't need that level of tracking.

Question for fender tag collectors, are the inspector's stamps stamped after they are painted also? Seems like most all of the survivor cars that have an inspection stamp were stamped before they were painted. And some of the inspection stamps are on the left side (non-Lynch Road Assembly) where if bolted down and bent up it would be difficult to stamp it in that location. I still feel most of those stamps were done in Body-In-White and before paint.
