moog has been junk for the past 15+ years. rubber bushings, tie rod and ball joint boots, joints themselves that wear super fast, and on and on.....................    Just so sad for the hobby these days, when you have to search for NOS for such common wear items. I'd prefer to find a good NEW part v ersus relying on the intergrity of 30/40/50 yr old rubber ... but that's me. We can thank the EPA for the garbage we have to live with now. I put Moog lower bushings in my 69 GTS that only had 56k miles on it in 2006 , the next spring when I looked under the car i could see that the rubber was already starting to check on the outside. I can only imagine what they look like now with the car being in hibernation since then ... Some of those older rubber parts I'd trust to "most" of the offshore crap these days. I've seen 50 year old wiring that's in excellent condition. Depends on the specific materials used back then. Old glass weatherstripping that's just fine. Like most things today manufacturers fiddle with ingredients to cut costs, less so then in the past. In past it was about Quality, today it's about Cost. PERIOD !!

I am rebuilding my lower control arms and I bought Moog K791 bushings like I have in the past, but these are different and are wrong on almost every dimension. The outside diameter is about .015 too big compared to a older stock of Moog bushing. I don't even think it could be pressed.into the control arm being that much too big.. The ID is also too large, the shaft can be put in almost all the way by hand. Does anyone make a rubber replacement bushing that fits? I don't want poly. My older Moog bushing that is correct says "HARRIS" on the rubber at the end. Thanks Moog is junk for the last decade plus, I would get Mevotech now . Big debate between Moog and Mevotech on the internet. Mevotech being a Canadian company and Moog have been going at it for years now. Found and do consider the source the INTERNET that Mevotech supposedly has product that is made in of all places China  as does Moog which is now an "international" company, mainly for the Euro market. The only brand that I have not heard of issues with lately is Pro Forged, but that doesn't mean they don't have a problem. I suspect there's very few actual manufacturers anymore as the LCA bushing problem seems to be almost universal... Same here regarding Mivotech and Pro Forged. And yes Moog VERY disappointing lately, especially rubber parts. Grease boots disintegrate and fall off in no time. Too bad speedlogix is only manufacturing for newer Mopars https://spdlgx.com/collections/control-arms-challenger

How about TRW? Are they still making components like these?

as we all know, there is a lot of same items re-boxed for different venders. in today's manufacturing world, who really knows what is going on, other than the quest for profits above quality ? [and that's as far as i am going in that direction] in the 55 years plus i have been playing with these toys, as well as owning a junkyard [1972-1984/5] and repairing vehicles of all makes, [i'm not into that these days] there has been a dramatic shift in quality of all parts it seems. just my personal experience and observation. your mileage will vary.

as a machinist, i have made delrin bushings for quite a few applications [non auto related - the high pressure gas meter industry] over my 45+ year employment career, and they worked great without lubrication, some at a 1,000+ rpm range. i also have machined delrin bushings for the control arms on my own designed suspension system on my 33 dodge "humpback" panel, as well as bushings for some dirt burner control arms. those worked quite well, despite the hammering they take at the track. i make sure they are able to be greased well, and they don't squeak when pushing up and down on the car. this picture just shows the suspension in the design stage, using slip fit aluminum bushings for assembly and checking camber change and toe change [bump steer] before the delrin bushings were made.

Regardless of what some say about Moog parts they are still one of the few manufacturers that offers Made In USA components/parts and if I can find Moog parts MADE IN USA then I'll buy them over anything else made in China or the Pacific Rim. I might even consider parts by Moog made in Mexico if not available in MADE IN USA but only if it is the only part not made in China, or the PR. I just went through this with my son's '98 Oldsmobile that needed new outer tie rod ends that was spotted by the tire shop (friend) as he put on General MADE IN USA tires on my son's MADE IN USA car. The difference in quality of the MADE IN USA tie rod ends was easy to see and for the same and much less price in a couple of cases. I traveled over 200 miles Sunday to find two MADE IN USA tie rod ends so I could finish his car Sunday afternoon so he would have it for work on Monday. Well worth it so I didn't have to put Chinese or Pacific Rim JUNK on his MADE IN USA car. (How's that for a rank  ). Mike
