Located in Middle TN.

I know it's harmless but was curious what brand of snake it is.

Thanks.

I knew it wasn't dangerous so I gave the homeowner the option of me relocating it further down the farm but they were okay with it so it stayed.

I can generally tell if it is or isn't poisonous but not much more than that.

Gray rat snake; cousin to this black rat snake I picked up in the street near our house about a month ago. Let's see if the pic(s) loads...

Brad - Last week I found a dead one on the edge of the road in front of our house that looks exactly like that. Now I know what it was. Thanks.

Your dog sure looks interested in that snake.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Sadie was curious, but not bothered by the snake. She's been around our pet snakes enough to simply take them in stride.

I found this little guy this week while digging a ditch. He was about 6 inches underground. Unfortunately the one pictures isn't very good, but I think is also a rat snake. Agree?

King snake, they are good to have around. If you mess with them, they'll coil up on their back with their mouth open and play dead. If you keep messing with them, they'll secrete a musk scent that's horrible, even gas won't get it off your hands. Been there done that.
