It depends on which $hit hole your talking about.A year ago at Tri State it got to the point were almost none of the hemi cars wanted to go down the track it was so bad. When they decided to race Jeff Johnson made everybody flip a coin because nobody wanted the left lane it was that bad.
It was a hot and sticky weekend, but having said that, I was in the tower as you know and everything was done to make the track work the best it would for the conditions that were there. I remember you trying to lead your revolt and getting all the hemi guys to walk out on the race in protest, and nobody went along with you. Bob Marshall had no problem getting down the track, Mark B. had no problem... the Super Pro guys had no problems... SURE there are a few that do have an incident, sure there are some that set thier cars up for one track and never adjust thier chassis for conditions then expect the track to come around to thier cars... there is always someone that cant get down a track. I usually dont say things on these threads, but what you dont know is that Boyd Peck made you flip a coin for lane choice, NOT Jeff. That weekend was the first race where Eddie and Charlie were present as the new owners, (even though it wasnt announced yet, charlie was riding around on his golf cart introducing himself as the new owner and it was the first race they were active in), they were in the lanes watching charlies buddies and it was Charlie that told Boyd to flip a coin, and as you know Boyd does as hes told.

hey don, Thanks for those pics you sent me last week, car is looking good.
I dont want to get into a debate with you, (or anyone else) about things that happened almost 2 years ago. I'm not implying anything about your car.
And I'm only speaking about the things as I remember them. Whatever the reason you felt you needed to go give your approval to let others race if they felt the track was safe, even though you did not... well I'm not going to change your mind on how I saw what happened. You talked to others who had no issue with the track about not racing as a group to show us we needed to do something to the track. Even though everything was being done that could be done for the conditions. The track was scraped, I helped do it. It was so hot and muggy and crappy that the rubber built up pretty fast and yeah when that happens the little turds roll up, the answer is not to spray down more VHT. If you say Bob wasnt there, then ok, I guess I'm confused, I do remember talking about the track conditions and watching Danny Smith pull the wheels and wrong strong, then going over and asking him what he thought of the track and he said it was not that bad. (I was over there talking to him after Tim Freese damaged his car with the hood) But again, I'm not trying to start a debate over it... You hate those tracks and they aren't going back so you should be happy right?
The coin toss? well thats what I originally wrote about anyhow. Jeff didnt make race decisions, he left that up to me, Boyd answered to me... But at that race Charlie was shadowing Boyd and they made the decision to flip a coin. You are surprised that Boyd would pass blame onto someone else so that he wouldnt have to deal with angry "buddies".
Moving on... I cant speak about why Wheatcrafts and other Big Dogs pulled out of Tri State (i'm sure if asked they would have thier own reason), but if youre talking about what I think you are then you should get your facts straight. Deanna Stevens borrowed Wheatcrafts car to license in... Pat Louden wasnt letting them make runs at the track to get a license so they pulled out and went to another track, when they came back Pat didnt accept the forms and had a run in with Dean, she kicked them out.
Don I hope you and everyone have a great safe 2007 season.

don the years blend together then... what happened in 2003 at tri state is a blur except for the FUBAR with Pro class and the pairings in the lanes... which I would rather not revisit.
Danny Smith has his car set up to hook in a snow storm... but no one else can make adjustments so they can get down the track? I'm not pointing fingers, i'm not saying anything specific about any one person, but when you have 4 or 5 people that just cant get down the track and 40 or 50 others just as fast getting down the track... where does the problem lay? It's just the ones that dont get down that talk the loudest.
Dont think I dont agree that the track was a challenge, but to say people didnt care, or didnt do anything about it is wrong.
I agree safety should be #1, and when I was involved with the series it was. I have no idea about what happened at Edgewater, the track prep or anything, i was there a total of about 20 min on Saturday before being told to leave.

Wow, I didn't notice that. I'm still in mourning over no races in SW Ohio next year.
Me too, I've had good luck in the Cincy area; won at Tri State in 2005 and Edgewater in 2006
You guys crack me up. How'd ya like to be me (St. Louis) or anyone else living outside Ohio and would like to take part in this deal? I enjoyed it but thats all for me, I wont be attending any Classis races next year. Too much $$$ output fot too little $$$ return. I still dont even know for sure what we were running for, prizes I mean. Did any of you ever hear? I would love to do it again, but it'll have to wait until I move to Ohio I guess.

don, i didnt say you werent making adjustments... i'm only pointing out that you say that those who can make adjustments and can make it down in a snow storm dont count... like the laws of physics dont apply to them. track was tough, i agree... but we did not ignore it and send you down a unsafe track like you keep saying. you say you cant keep talking about how to get a 8 second car down a bad track, well the same can be said when i cant keep explaining that there is only so much you can do with track prep in adverse conditions, especially when there are people out there that just assume the cure all is more glue.

Pittsburgh looks like a go next year as long as I don`t break my motor 2 weeks before the event like last year.
