Removed the dash to R&R the a/c evaporator and everything else while in there (son's truck). On start-up to recharge a/c, compressor won't engage, speedo is at 120, and abs/brake lights are on. Had the battery disconnected while doing the work.

Finally found an EWD online this morning. Found a pin had backed out of a connector.

The speedo problem evidently is common to Dakotas after having the battery disconnected for as short a time as 15 minutes.
Here's the fix-
1. Ignition switch off
2. Press and hold the trip reset knob
3. Turn the ignition switch to on but do not start.
4. Hold the reset knob for approx 10 seconds
the dash panel will go through a self check

Be ready to write down any codes that show up on the read out.

I had to do it twice before the speedo went back to 0.

Hope this helps someone else out.

Or if someone could point me to a wiring diagram that would do it.

Not sure where it came from but I do know it wasn't here. Dakota/Durango board, maybe? shruggy Just Googled speedo stuck at 120 in '98 Dakota and read the first thing that came up.

If it was you, thanks. up
