I've got a 73 Satellite "M" code (400 2bbl) with factory exhaust manifolds. I know it takes a sleeve nut on the rear drivers side. Can anyone tell me if it takes the short or the long sleeve nut? Also are the rest of the nuts supposed to be flanged or just regular 3/8-24? Thanks in advance for any help.

A picture of the exhaust manifold in question would be very helpful. Its kind of hard to remember which manifold was on which motor in which car. The 1st image in my mind says it was a long sleeve nut, but my mind could easily be seeing a different manifold.

As I remember the nuts, the flanged nuts held on the tin covers. But I also remember belled washers under the nuts against the manifolds, and those helped keep the manifold nuts tight much better.

iagree there were many variations over the years with the manifolds, so a picture would be helpful.

Strange, that left side manifold is the one I had pictured in my head!

That rear nut on the left side manifold uses the long nut. The right side all use the short nuts, and you might get by with regular store bought nuts, be be aware, most store bought nuts don't hold up to the heat like the original nuts did. I'm not sure I would like the flanged nuts against the manifold or not, but they may hold up better then store bough nuts would. If the studs are long enough, I thing I would see if I could chase down the old exhaust bell washers, but I would probably go for the flanged exhaust nuts over regular nuts, if the flanged nuts are indeed exhaust flanged nuts.

IMHO, you have mixed manifolds. While HP on driver side the one on passenger side is standard. Which would be the correct one for 2bbls BB.

About sleeve nuts. As far I recall on my HP setup used 3. But one of them shorter. But this could change between standard and HP setups.

My wagon was a 400 2BBL originally and had the same 'mixed' manifolds. I found a '73 HP passenger side manifold, and it bolted right up to the headpipe with no changes.

Can't help you on the bolts, its been too long.
