Interstate 95 between Fredericksburg and Washington, 50 miles, some days you could die of starvation in the traffic jam! The cars on that stretch will burn more gas idling that the state of Iowa.

I would welcome some of the "most feared roads"! It is better than the most hated roads like the one i drive to work every day. They repave the good parts and do nothing the parts that have been fubar for years. They put new curbs and paint on pot hole ridden streets. They are so bad if you drive to fast when you hit them the whole back end kicks out. You can't even change anything on the stereo because of the road conditions. Then they put up a sign saying "your tax dollars at work" Paying the 6 employees to watch ONE doing the work(on something that doesn't need to be fixed)! Politicians have there priorities... https://patch.com/new-jersey/across-nj/nj-spends-500k-rugs-furniture-statehouse-renovations-report

I have driven large sections of that road. Several customers on that road I visit regularly. Take it to Houston regularly too Not sure why it's listed, there are much worse in TX than 90. Of course with no link to the source who knows what's the reasoning behind it's selection,

Not sure why this one is here either? I've driven it a few times.

I can't believe that Highway 550 "The Million Dollar Highway" in Colorado from Silverton to Ouray is not on the list? A couple of photos for consideration.
I've ridden it many, many times on dual sport/dirt bike motorcycles. Crazy but sometimes a group of us would kind of "race" down it back into Ouray where we were staying during a motorcycle charity ride put on by Wally Dallenbach sr. with lots of Indy car guys, crew members and motorcycle industry people. Crazy times.
Wife and I drove that several years ago. Started in a sunny late afternoon, then into twilight, and finally nighttime. One of the scariest, steering wheel clutching roads I’ve ever been on. No doubt about it!

[quote=Powerflow FWIW, in 1965 Route 17 was voted the most beautiful highway in the United States. [/quote] Difference between now and then is now you "need" a fast food chain every couple hundred feet to feel secure...all that beautiful scenery is impeding safety.

Completely agree on the Million Dollar highway. I've done that many times in F350's/F450's towing 30k trailers, and also once in a snowstorm. South to North isn't bad as you're always next to the mountainside in the sketchy parts, but North to South definitely has the pucker factor! There are a bunch of others with similar dropoffs in Colorado too, like Loveland pass, Hoosier pass, etc.
Would love to eventually ride it on a motorcycle but haven't made the time to make it happen.

From Durango to Silverton is fun too seems most in the mountains are not good and LOVE those guardrails. I was driving one going 40 with my butt cheeks tight then some work truck went by at 65, they’re used to it I guess.
