After 103 passes the incredibly stock component 904 has been retired to “spare” status and a more “robust” unit has taken its place. My “plan” was to upgrade my current unit with a good output shaft (in talking with others more common to fail), but then I was educated in the fact that when you upgrade the output, you also had to upgrade the input. Output shafts have been unavailable for quite sometime, but luckily a mopar racer out of Michigan had a new A&A spare on the shelf and sold it to me. It was about this time I started chatting with Chris Andrews (Andrews Racing Transmissions) and went “all in” on a build. I was going to swap my Pro Trans brake from my current trans, but for the sake of laziness ended up putting an A&A brake in the new trans. That way the spare will be ready to rock if needed ever. Despite the stupid heat we got it swapped out this am. Just have to order some fluid (LAT) and I’m going with new torque converter bolts. Guess we’ll see how it runs in a few months.

seeing that the transmission pan uses nuts, with studs in the case, to secure it, a question i have always wondered about.
has anyone had the studs back out of the case when removing the pan nuts ?
are the studs loctited at installation ? if so, what color of loctite was used ?
TIA to those smarter than me, that can answer this old man's stupid question. bow

I used the studs and nuts combo with flat washers under the nuts on a brand new STR Edelbrock crossram. I put the studs in using red Loctite cause I knew I was never gonna remove them. They never backed out a bit.

July 19th should be "Drive Like Rockford Day". R.I.P. Jimmie.

I like the stud idea here, would make the job of installing a new gasket that much easier (it being an upside-down job).

I'm curious, what part# is that setup/kit?

Re: colour, I used the ORANGE colour to setup my valve cover studs. It is strong enough to keep things planted, but not as robust as the RED stuff.
