Anyone know or been in recent contact with Doug? I had heard he might be having some health issues but didn't know for sure. And yeah, he has the wheel for my Barracuda and told me it was about done, so I have a vested interest.

Thanks for any info anyone can provide!

Doesn't he have a facebook page called The Steering Wheel guy? If so looks like there was some activity about a week ago. There is also a phone number listed on the page.

I know he is! And I can totally relate... Believe me! It's just that he had told me my wheel was pretty much done and I sent a check for the remaining balance. It's been a couple weeks and the check still hasn't been cashed and he hasn't responded to email.

Oh, and I'll check the Facebook page. I wasn't aware of his page. up

Thanks guys!

Just heard back from Doug and he sent photos of the wheel, and it is OUTSTANDING! It's too nice for the car! eek That's the good news. The bad news is that even after more than 2 weeks our check has not arrived at his place. So I'm going to have to see what I can do about that, like maybe write another or something...

Thanks everyone!

Only fair that if I’m talking about Doug that I share an image of his stellar work. Can’t wait to get this back in the car! But so far the check hasn’t arrived up there and I wrote and sent it on 6/7! 😮

The US Mail isn't as good as it used to be. Two weeks, with a holiday thrown in, may be at their faster limits these days.

I see three options.
1) Give it another couple weeks.
2) Stop payment and send another check (or if you trust him, send another check and tell him to destroy the second check if or when it shows up),
3) Pay for it with a credit card which processes much faster then checks these days, and when the credit card bill comes, pay it off..

Lets, see here......

Mailing a check across the border, transit time, time to clear Canadian customs, more transit time to Doug & then another 10-14 days for the check to clear?

Patience is a virtue. twocents

Since we're here in the conversation, I'll ad the tracking from an item that was delivered today (via USPS); read from the bottom up...it's pretty impressive! Long story short, it came to town (I live in Fort Walton Beach, BTW), left, came back, left and finally made it here...a couple days later than expected. I'm not mad, just astounded.

Just a couple of days ago the USPS issued a warning against sending checks in the mail. Plenty of articles online about it. Google it

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

That second link smells of damage control. Somebody at the USPS must have realized that if nobody trusts the USPS then they don't have a job.

iagree They're rapidly sinking into obsolescence. Without junk mail and parcels I see little use for the USPS anymore.
