I have a dipstick tube that I'm sure came off of a 69 383 with HP manifolds and power steering. The mounting tab on the tube attaches at the top motor mount bolt. The repop tubes for 68-69 all appear to attach at the lower motor mount bolt.

Were different tubes used on power steering cars or with some other combination of accessories? Were tubes attaching to the top bolt used on any 68-69 big block?

A belated thank you for that info. I went with an aftermarket tube knowing that the tab was in the right place, on the lower bolt. As others have mentioned the tube diameter was way oversize. After some filing and sanding I managed to get it in.

way back, direct connection said sanding on their chromed factory dip stick tube "may be required" for installation.
not saying yours is chromed, but just something DC said back in the day.
and sadly, aftermarket parts of today seem to lack the quality control process[es] necessary to insure proper fitment on their application[s].
