I need to clean up, organize, and maximize space.

Never disembowled a rad, how should I go about removing the tanks for storage?

The tanks are pressed on and soldered. The easiest would be to take it to a good radiator shop and have them pull it apart.

Use a propane torch to melt out the solder, they will come right off, be sure to remove the side straps first if still on there. Same thing to remove the straps, they are just soldered on.

Of course that makes them useless until you spend the $150 to get one put back together.

Most of them need recore anyway. I just want to consolidate storage, and save OEM tanks for a rainy day.

So, just hack the core back and desolder, right?
