Talked to Rick at A & A and his transmissions are a year out. Looking for a BB 727 with a brake that can handle 821hp. It would be nice to find one in Washington state but open to other options. Thanks for your reply’s.

There is a member on here who runs a shop in the Nampa/Boise area. Not really close to you but it is a fast drive across the sage brush.

Most of the local guys use A-1 in Vancouver. They are a serious race shop, even build their own converters.

I just purchased a 727 from Dave at Pro-Trans , shipped to my house in Washington State, the whole purchasing and shipping process were perfect. I did a lot of research and a lot of racers run his transmission. Matt

It doesn't take much to hold that power level. Good front drum ( I like aluminum), a steel front planet, deep 46RH trans pan and filter extension. Good solid KD band, good quality frictions, and a Ultra sprag. Coupled with a good trans brake valve body. A&A is a good source for the parts. The assembly itself is pretty simple. Pro Trans stuff is the fiest. But it's not priced for the faint of heart. This combo I've listed has served well both in my 580" 64 Belvedere and my sons turbo SB 62 Savoy. Both make over 850hp.

iagree
They are the best in my opinion on both 904 and 727 tranny builds, street and strip or race only up scope They make and manufacture many race parts for all the other good Mopar race tranny rebuilders also up scope
As far as the new owners of A1, my personal experience with them on freshening a race Powerglide wasn't so good whiney
Pro trans is building my new 904 for my turbocharged 360 stroker motor (around 600 HP on E85 with EFI also :luck): in my 1965 street and strip Valeant up

Cab, mind sharing what Dave is selling his good 904 for and the lead time? Know he was working with Rick for hard parts while they were in transition from CA to Waco so seemed like they were both quoting a year. Paul Forte is still doing transmissions (was very pleased with the race 904 he refreshed for me this year) and can’t imagine shipping a transmission across country is that bad considering the total outlay involved. I’m seriously considering a PG for a light bracket car simply because of availability for build and refresh.

I’ve done business with Dave and Darren, but I needed some 904 parts QUICK and Chris Andrews was ON IT!! I’m currently having them (Andrew’s Racing Transmission) build me a race 904. Output shafts are not available but I found a racer with a spare new one in Michigan and purchased it. Chris thought June would be no problem for a completion time. We’re going to SoDak in June so we can go a little ways out of our way and pick it up.
