I have one of those, I was told it came out of a class B or class C van motorhome chassis The class A motorhome chassis use a different rear tranny mount, not like the vans at all

So it’s basically junk? I can’t use a tail shaft for say a B body and make it work? It's not really junk , if you swap on the proper year mainshaft ... front planet splines need to match ... and the tail housing from a donor trans it will work fine . It may be from a 70's 4x4 that used a divorced transfer case , the motor home units usually had a drum brake on the rear of the extension housing that was used as the parking brake . I have one of them and the other parts needed to turn one into a car usable trans I'll be building sometime in the future .
running up my post count some more .

That will identify what year and engine it was used in. All the guts and converter are useable in a pass. car once you swap out the extension housing and output shaft.

If a GearVendors is ever in your future, that trans will give you a shorter overall length for the assembled unit.
Kevin
How is that possible. No matter what gear vendors unit you use it is still based off the main 727 case.

It replaces the stock tailshaft housing with their own adapter then uses a coupler to hook the stock tailshaft to the GV box input.
They have a kit for the short tailshaft setup. Right they have a short one but you use their transmission output shaft. Unless you cut the threads off? Picture looks like a different output.

How is that possible. No matter what gear vendors unit you use it is still based off the main 727 case. All Gearvendors use the factory output shaft. Shorter output shaft, shorter overall length. They use different adapter housings depending on which output, ie motorhome or car transmission. Kevin

I know all that. My point is the transmission the poster has shown with the bolt on Yoke is not compatible with the GV as the output shaft has the threads on the end. The rest of the transmission is ok but you have to use a later non divorced transmission output shaft. I haven't actually had my hands on one but they do sell a "shorty" kit. If they don't require cutting the threads off, it would be pretty simple for them to make the coupler longer to accommodate the threads as well as a longer adapter housing. This assumes that the spline length plus the thread length is longer on a motorhome trans than the spline length on a car trans is. If both output shafts start out with the same spline length and they just turn down an inch for threads on the motorhome shaft, then the same coupler serves both applications and no extra length requirements for the adapter housing is needed.
