Hi, does anybody know what the shelf life of a new reproduction billboard stripe is? I've seen three years on an internet search but was wondering if anybody has had one longer and then installed it - how was the adhesive? I feel three years is not correct.

I have heard of people using NOS decals from the 60's and 70's with no issues.

It depends on the quality of the material and how it is stored. I put some nos 340 six pack decals on my toolbox and they were just fine. If I had the choice I would just wait until your ready to install them before buying.

If you really want to start worrying, start thinking how long that stripe sat on the shelf in some warehouse before you bought it.

It was probably made in a big batch at some point in the past and then stored. It's not like milk and eggs at the grocery store where product flies off the shelf and is rotated daily.

How many black billboard 1-year-only stripe sets get sold in a year? How many Cudas get painted in a year?

It's possible the stripe you bought 3 years ago and the one you buy today came from the same batch... grin stirthepot

Thanks for the input guys. Yep, I figured it wasn't freshly made when ordered or at least the vinyl roll it was made out of wasn't fresh either. They feel fine and when I peel an edge off - they are very sticky still - I'm going to try using them.

A good test is if the backing paper peels off clean. When these get old the backing paper tends to stick.

I didn't think to try that - thanks. I will check that out.
