My gauge cluster was painted black to cover up the factory brown/wood look on my 71 chargers ralley dash. So how can I get it off w/o melting the plastic?

A lot of members have posted that they use brake fluid.

My plastic grill was painted black so I sprayed on brake fluid and left it in the sun. Melted the paint off like butter. But I did have to repaint it after because it took the factory paint finish off as well.
