Here are a few tips: 1) Don't use the Bill Hirsch stuff. It's garbage. At the request of the customer, I painted this Ford side oiler(pic) with it. Color is nice, but NO durability. 2) You can achieve phenomenal results spraying the Mandarin Orange or the Gibson stuff, without needing a spray gun or even a compressor. Buy a Preval setup(under 5 bucks) which is like a portable/disposable sprayer. Fill it with the appropriate amounts of paint/reducer/hardener and have at it. Works awesome, just chuck it out when you are done. Mike

I mixed it a little hot to flash faster- painted it outside with a gun, light coats,a touch on the dry side, and it is not near as shiny as a base clear. Foo foo drinks are for girls, but so are automatics- and many of you drive them!
I got a girlymatic and like Foo-foo drinks too! Hope the NY boys have lots more of those girly drinks at the Nats. I got a few more hairs that need to fall out.
BTW, Ask Dstryr. He'll tell you my girly auto car is a slug.

Ask me what??? You've got nothing to hang your head about with that car- it's a beaut and will rip a smokey burnout with ease. Dang, I wish I got a picture of that, captioned...."Gary was HERE ==>"

OK, so which "spray bomb" engine paint actually looks like the correct color?
I bought a bunch of the Totally Auto stuff and, to be blunt, the oil pan I tested it on looks too "pinkish" IMO (not to mention how poorly the stuff sprayed out of the cheap nozzle they use). I think the Krylon (or is it Plasti-Kote???) Chrysler Orange (I think that's the name of their color) actually looks more like the original paint on some of the parts that RoadRunnerJD showed me.

I used to use the Mandarin Orange formula. It is a little too orange though.I bought Roger Gibson's and it was a little too brown. But when I mixed the 2 together, the color was darn near perfect.

Two of the ones I can find around here are the Plastic-Kote #226 and Dupli-Color #1622. I think the Dupli-Color looks the best and goes on the best. MikeE

Here's a bump of an old thread that might be useful for the 440 Detailing thread/question...

I've used both Plasti Kote and Dupli color. The Plasti-Kote is THE BEST paint I've used in a spray bomb. The Dupli-color looks like watered down paint. The Dupli clear also turns yellow over time, the Plasti Kote stays clear.
I used the Plasti Kote Hemi orange, then went over it with their engine enamel clear, came out perfect.I also used the clear on my intake and aluminum water pump/housing,and they both look brand new.
Nautilus Racing- We use Superformance gaskets and Turbo Action converters/products.
