When we moved to the country years ago, it was surreal one day when I saw this tall Ostridge walking in the corn field behind us. Turns out there was a farmer a couple of miles away with some of them and it had got loose. He was able to finally return it to the farm. laugh2

There was a time when Ostriches were going to be the "new" best thing. People were buying them to breed for meat and eggs. It wasn't long before they were over bread and the market for them was not there. They past laws where I lived making it illegal with a pretty hefty fine if you released them into the wild. It was getting pretty common for awhile to see them roaming the woods and fields. They are all gone now.
