8 years ago today the racing world lost a legend, Smokey Yunick. Although he wasn't a Mopar guy, he was a mechanical genius that made everyone that had to compete against him work a little harder to try and keep up. Dave

Smokey was my hero,I got to spend time with him at Atlanta and have a picture of him and I in my office and a hat he autographed for me. I also have all his books and many articles from old race magazines.

At one time it was said that half the rules in the NASCAR rulebook were because of Smokey. The other half were Junior Johnson.
