Yeah that was the first thing I thought of. It was on enough slope it should have rolled back easily.

Possibly he was a little impaired and wasn't thinking straight? Really odd how he just stood there and held onto that open door frame as the train bore down on him.

I know in the country if you've had a few too many or have lost your license you stay off the main roads and take the back way. Looks like he got lost?

It did appear he wasn't too concerned about his wife getting out of the truck, or maybe he kept telling her to get out but she wasn't listening? How many here have a wife that would be telling him she wasn't getting out of the truck way out here in the boonies? It was possible he was holding the door open trying to convince the dumb broad to get out of the truck..

Maybe he thought his old GMC was tougher then that dumb train. He may also had been concerned that if it rolled back, it might fall over the embankment on its own, the wheels are turned pretty tight and it looks to be close to the edge. Maybe he thought it was far enough off the tracks the train would miss it, it doesn't appear to be "on" the tracks in the pictures. The train hangs a long way out past the track, if you haven't been up close to a train, you might not know that.

Maybe he was too dumb, or too drunk. Maybe she was too.

After looking at the pictures of the crumpled up GMC, it didn't look like too big of a loss, lots of lipstick on that pig. The pictures of the bottom of the door told me a lot about the condition of the truck.

My thought also. Some Bondo a nice paint job and new interior. Lipstick on a pig.

Is it possible the truck was sacrificed in a planned even to generate views? Some channels are profitable enough to afford to do such things. they make money from the views and such.

It's an old truck that was put together for some fun, cheap trail riding. No harm in that. Terrible way to end up, though. Or should that be 'end down?'

Insurance. Stated value? Insure it for $35K then let a train hit it. Collect $35K

Given it's a GM truck, it appears it would be an easy fix rather with either used parts or reproduction parts. If the frame isn't tweaked. The door doesn't look that bad. Around here that door bottom would be gone along with the rockers and lots else.

I don't know the youtuber in this particular video but I do know a successful youtuber can make 6 figures a month. At that pay one could sacrifice a lot in the name of profit.

Don't do you much good if in jail.

I'm sure there is laws on the books about being on a train right-a-way let alone causing an accident. Not like the guy got stuck at a legal train crossing.

Rhode Island for example: Trespassing on railroad right-of-way. – Every person who without right knowingly stands or walks, or rides a bicycle or other vehicle on the private right-of-way of any railroad or railway operated by steam or other power, except for the purpose of crossing it at a highway or other authorized crossing, shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or be imprisoned not more than one year, or both. Any person violating this section may be arrested without a warrant by any police officer or any special railroad police officer and proceeded against according to law.

I think most of that is the law or regulation nationally. It's the same or so I was told by a Norfolk Southern worker here in Ohio and surprising how far from the tracks jurisdiction extends. I was what I thought far enough away from the tracks behind where I worked one day taking photos for my young son. A NS worker came up behind me and let me know I was too close to the tracks even though I thought I was on our company's property. I told him what I was doing taking pictures for my son so he asked me to come over to his service truck and he pulled out the next year's Norfolk Southern calendar to give to my son. COOL. He explained the rules and surprisingly they even in some situations onto private property. Those people don't stand a chance if they think they are going to get any compensation from NS, they'll be lucky if they get away without a fine.

One source I looked at indicated 200 feet. I didn't look much closer as I found what I was looking for in general.

If you are close enough to be hit by a train, clearly in violation and should be a darwin award winner.

Tracks = train.

Train running into you = bad.

Stay away from tracks.
