' The “Jay Leno’s Garage” host, who will return to Sin City in March to perform for the first time since the car fire, explained that he had been testing a 1940 Indian motorcycle and noticed the scent of leaking gas — an uncanny similarity to the explosion in his garage just months prior — and wanted to pull over.
“So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it,” he explained. “So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late. It just clotheslined me and, boom, knocked me off the bike. The bike kept going, and you know how that works out.”
Leno decided to keep the crash quiet because of the media coverage surrounding his November hospitalization and subsequent recovery.'

The old wire trick has killed many snowmobilers over the years. Former boss and friend lost his younger brother to a cable without flags or indication it was put there after years of nothing there. On a trail ride with a group of other dirt bikers and him in the lead. It wasn't there the weekend before, sad. I can see with the panic of the gas smell that he was looking for the quickest place to go and well beyond the cable. May have even been looking down at the bike for a moment to be sure it wasn't on fire.

plus he was in the Hemi Under Glass when it crashed. On his show too, he's lucky he didn't lose an arm or worse without a window net when it rolled.
