The A12 cars (69 440-6) only had a 5/16 line, no problem...

Like I stated earlier 69 440 Sixpack cars had 5/16 as did 69 & earlier 440-4 barrel cars.. 426 Hemi got 3/8 & starting in 70 440-4 barrel & 440-6 got 3/8.. So 5/16 obviously will work but 3/8 is better if your really gonna try to get max power out of that 440...

My sons .030 over 400 Dart still has the factory 5/16 line and has run 11.40's at 117 with no problems. Should be fine. Ron

There are 10 second cars using 5/16 line. NO problem.

i have a buddy who has a 07 mustang that makes 800hp at the rear wheels. he has the stock 5/16" fuel lines and pump. then again newer mustangs have high pressure pumps.
his best time is a 10.2 @ 139 mph

I would suggest you ask this question through the tech lines at Holley and BG and see what they recommend - - and let this forum no the results.

I know my 67 B-body 440 cars have the 3/8 fuel pump over the non BB cars 5/16th pump. I have never measured the fuel line, but I would guess it is 3/8 not 5/16.. However, like everyone has said here before me, you will have no problems running 5/16 line.

if you need more fuel, you could run an electric pump and get more pressure, then step it down with a regulator at the carb, using 3/8 from the reg to the carb, and you should be ok that way too.

Hope you made all good mandrel bends there and don't have any dings, etc in your line. Any slight errors and guess what - you are now looking at a restriction in the neighborhood of 1/4". Don't know any 10 second cars running a 1/4" fuel line.
