I once tried to go to Pismo Beach, but I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

Love the old Warner Bros cartoons - grew up with them, and they're partially responsible for my addiction to Road Runners.

Sand rails & Baja bugs were all the rage in SoCal in the late '60s & the '70s - older friends/mentors of mine built their own.
They were kind of a counter-culture to the musclecar & racecar guys, though also blending in somewhat.
One of the guys developed a design for a 2-man rail with a 50 Cal and tried to interest the DoD in it but they didn't bite.

It was ahead of its time, but it mainly suffered from "not invented by a favored contractor".
