Anyone know what these two cast in "bolt bosses" are for on my Mega block? Maybe they were there if it was made into a hemi? This block started life as a 500" crate engine. My Milodon gear drive hits them and they will have to be machined off for it to fit. Just wondering if they served any good purpose?

Those bosses were not on my block. No idea what they would be used for.

You will probably have to grind the shoulder off the lower oil passage boss under the cam timing gear also scope
I have on stock blocks: wrench:

They were for a fixed idle gear drive. The idle gear bracket bolted to the three of them. If you milled down the 2 on the outside to the same height as the boss next to the cam tunnel, the whole thing would fit under a stock cover.

I think the early TFX and other hogh end fuel blocks had those boses as well. As mentioned above it is for a gear drive app.

I was thinking it might be for something like that, but I had not seen that set up before. Thanks for the info. Now, off with the bosses so my gear drive will fit!
