Looking for some assistance identifying connecting rods for small block. I have a set with a casting number 1618699 and another set with casting number 2899496. Is one set for a 318 engine assembly (1618699) and the other for a 340 (2899496)?

340 should be the bushed rods with the floating pins

I thought the earlier 318's had full floating pins. IIRC, the last one I pulled apart (1968) did.

iagree All of the 318 motors I've seen and worked on up to mid 1972 or 1973 had the bushings up
I'm not sure if Mopar started pressing fitting them in mid 1972, early 1973 or maybe even starting in 1975: confused:

The early 318 poly and 273 rods are also bushed to match the 340...

I have a few sets laying around but I don't know what the part #'s on them are...

They are different in their design as well as everything about them is smaller and lighter...

Length and bearing tolerances are all the same...
