I know I don't watch the silly street outlaws because well. Real race car on just closed course And the old we gonna fight and or get in ya head crap. Be nice to see real street cars say 10 sec or more street race on closed street like it was in the 70-80s Small tire real cars driven there. Maybe toss in some good mullet red neck guys too. Have to have limits on what is allowed supention, thing's ladder bars ok but no full blown cars. max of power adder, simple NOS etc. To keep it down to what we had rolling the streets back in the day.
I remember hearing a lot more trash talking happening at the local "street car " races in SO CA back in the day than races, late 1960s up to 1990s. I lived out in the high Desert back then, I was told it was a lot worse on the trash talking the closer you got to L.A.

Lots of races that go on like this. More and more back of the track and no prep stuff popping up, especially on the East coast and Ohio areas.
There is some really good content on Street Race Channel on Youtube. 10.5 tire, stock suspension pickup points, etc. They have big tire stuff, too but the Hoskins claim to fame is an S-10 with surprisingly stock suspension and a Falcon that is essentially a Fox Mustang underneath. Both can drive and Billy can tune! Low 6's would be competitive about everywhere they run. (equivalent of low 10's, high 9's in the quarter).
We run in some classes here locally that require full interiors, stock sheetmetal, stock glass,NO fuel cell, small tires and stock style suspension (no ladder bars). Lots of fun! 6.10's won the last race.

Just limit the tire to BFG Radial T/A 255/60R15's.
So you can lose a quarter panel?!
Those tires are absolute garbage!

I gotta admit I like the SO & NPK stuff: regardless of surface, those cars haul a**. It's entertaining & it's racing, even with the "enhancements"... The uniform seems to be black T-shirts with sponsor names - except Boddie, who wears plain white T-shirts, which I find amusing (Being he's black, and most everyone else is white). Back in the early '70s in SoCal, the street action in the SFV was fairly common; at B&M, we'd run 'em during lunch on a side street. But when you got into L.A. proper, or further South, things got gritty & more confrontational. Early 70s, a 12-second car would do pretty well; but a couple years later it took 10s to get the money. As for Radial T/As, 295/50s would just buzz with 540 HP & a 4-speed - that car moved forward much better on M&H DOTs

Yes I know and like it. Just saying show on TV like that would be way better to watch than the ones on now. And as far as trash talk I am fine with it but the fake stuff on TV sucks. In the 80s trash talk reeled plenty guys to loose their lunch money. I guess my point is more of a real street racer car even though not as fast would entertain better. Rather see a slower real car run than a guy show up with a million buck car and set up on a TV show. Gee I have gazillion dollar strip car hooking up on the street TV show bores me.
guess I was thinking more of something like lower buck less high tech.. More like a Show Called JJ's 1980s Arm Drop Max NOS 250 shot? Max Cubic Inch to what was back in the day? Real Street Tire, would leave it with what 275- -(295 -N-50-15) tires, No back halves, etc. Electronics a Big No. Foot Brake a MUST. You have a IPad you better be ordering Pizza not hooking it to your car. Realistically expect seeing fast back in the day set up type street cars run. I Remeber some really fast cars that drove out there beat the ringer who trailered a car to the Old Meetiing Spot Almost goes without saying No New Cars. Some lower cost Cars would be a good watch vs the high dollar all out stuff they show now.

We always used a flashlight vs the arm drop. At one point one of the guys had a two bulb battery powered tree. Yellow when staged, green for go. there were a few low 10 sec. cars but they were more of a strip car than street
Who remembers putting McCreary tires on the street...
We ran the snot out of those things.
i sure do ! was good friends with the tire shop owner. he also did recaps, and had a special mold that had different liners that could make cheater slicks or regular slicks. as for the McCreary's, he was a dealer for those, and would give us guys super deals on slicks and other tires that were offered in that brand. i even have a couple sets of slicks left over from [way] back in the day. they are harder than my head, but still hold air and aren't cracked anywhere. i even had a set of L-70x15 white letter McCreary studded winter tires. they worked pretty good in ice and snow ! but before the McCreary's, anyone here use the Atlas Bucron tires ? at the time, those were the stickiest street tires you could get. went through a few sets of those.

Back in the day this was the most common light for a street race, and yes it was "no prep" and the finish was usually determined by utility pole spacing or the next "Christmas Tree" provided by the city.

Dirt track Hoosiers worked real goood. I used Dunlap Qualifiers in the 80's,very soft.

Bias plys dont count, the FAST guys are going 9's on them - open the rules and it would be 7's
That said, a guy in town use to race street stock years ago, they all had to run radials and the best were GT Qualifiers. One day we were at his store and he was like "check this out" it was a piece of a cut up GT qualifier that had been soaking in something, I thought he said VHT but it must have been something else because the rubber was super soft. He had been trying a lot of cheats. Car was a granada with a 351, I think a Cleveland, it was fast too.

It's tough with a 400 treadwear radial (what rules require). We've managed a 1.72 60 ft. on a sketch surface and that was right on the edge!
