yah talked about this in the early 90`s when delay boxes were in every class to have some else to control the button so no one see if the driver make a move

I'm pretty sure the NHRA rule book already won't allow that

No joke, most of the big money bracket racers that have.00 lights and run right on their dial have them. Birdtracker

I am thinking this is a dig at the driver for screwing up.

No way this is legal anywhere

A joke, A good one too on John Odom. I'm sure he appreciated it.

Now the deal in car that started the process when the bulbs came on years ago, was real.

Put it in da beamz, set it, bulbs come on, system runs the let go. Know of one guy who won a championship with it. This was before all the hysteria over electronics.

Looks like a good opportunity for one of the "gifted" radio, computer geeks to get a jammer made up and operational to wreak havoc on those devices devil boogie hammer devil
Years back there were rumors about a division 7 Super Comp and Super gas racing team (2 Asian brothers) using electronic devices that they invented and made to use the lights on the Xmas tree to activate their trans brake releases with sensors on their S/C Dragsters and their S/G roadsters. I had several friends working for NHRA in division 7 back then and they told me that NHRA tech had torn those cars down for inspections multiple times at both divisional and national races and never found anything looking like it would have worked shruggy work
Knowing who is advertising that system ( Reaper) and his reputation on intelligence and marketing skills leads me to thank this is Folley, not a serious marketing attempt.
I'm almost sure that NHRA has a written rule in the rule book about the driver having to operate all controls involved in operating all race cars at any NHRA sponsored race work scope

I cut a perfect .400 light on a Pro Tree years ago at the old Fremont drag strip in the San Franscico bay area foot braking in S/St shock That was when they(NHRA) were still using conventional bulbs in the tree and I saw the pre stage and stage light flicker a little bit before the three yellows all came on at once, I was sure I red lighted but once I figure out what had happen all my Pro lights got a lot better devil boogie

That is one of the main reasons I always ran Pro ET in NHRA Division 1. Much harder to cheat in a true no electronic footbrake class. A few years back they got rid of true footbrake no electronics, and went with the box no box garbage like IHRA has always done.

If everyone else in my class is allowed to run it then I am too. And if I can have every electronic gizmo in the car, I am putting a box in it...Hence the reason I started running Super Pro.

I guess we are just about to the point you have to have a electrical engineering degree and work at NASA to be competitive, OR just go buy a Telsa.... whistling

Local Guy here. As tough as they come. He's won a few other $5k races this summer in Michigan as well. No box.

If you want to really get in your own head about other people cheating. Imagine the capability of the modern cars with drive by wire and ABS that can apply brakes? Press the special defrost button, the computer applies the brakes, and opens the throttle to the right stall speed. The photocell sensor for the automatic headlights sees the first yellow and releases the brakes and hammers the throttle at the perfect time. The electronic steering holds the car perfectly straight and it returns to the pits where it finds the driver drinking beer not paying attention to the lane calls.
