My 01 Dakota auto 2 wheel drive V6 gets around 18 mpg in town and maybe 20-21 mpg on the highway.

I don't think that's bad for a farily heavy vehicle.

My 2000 Dakota V6/5spd has been very dependable... no complaints. More power would be nice , but it's been a good daily driver. I've had good luck with my truck and it should hit the 200K mark within the next year or two easily. Still runs as good as new though.

My 05 with the 4.7 is great. 15 mpg in town and about 20 on the highway.
The price of gas jumped up by 22 cents this morning. Another summer of rip off!!! Alex

I'm on my second:

1993 V6 automatic 4x4, over 200K miles, always got 20+ mpg's. this truck got USED. Just not enough room to keep it to buy...
my 1997 V6, stick, 2 wheel, get's over 20mpg's.

I've known of many to get close to or over 20's. I'd buy one with full confidence

My '96 Dak regular cab, short box 2wd v-6 auto has 120k on it, trouble-free. Gives me a very consistent 17 mpg city/20-21 hiway.
All in all a great truck.
