Next coming weekend is the annual Fall Fling Mopar car show/swap meet in Van Nuys, CA (Saturday only) and was checking to see who is going. I’ll be there in the area picking up some stuff and probably check out the local seen for all the hot rods that show up at Bob’s Burgers. Anyone going to be attending?
Planning on being in the swap as well. We're taking the long way, though. I've wanted to take a drive down highway 1 from Monterey south. We're starting that trip on Thursday with a tour of Hearst Castle on Friday.

Went on Hotels.com and found a decently rated Motel 6 in Thousand Oaks (about 30 minutes west) for a good price. We're going to San Simeon tomorrow and doing Hearst Castle on Friday so Thousand Oaks is on the way,

Well running on 3 hours of sleep over two days was probably not my best way to enjoy the show, but thanks to my friend Pat and Andy ‘68mannix’ I was able to add this little jem to my quickly diminishing yard of cars. Though it’s a little ruffer than most I’ve worked with, I’m sure I can do something with it.

Didn’t think that one would sell. Big project.
What are the details on it?

I bought it friday afternoon prior to the show. was 440, 4spd dana 60 car. missing tags. was not for sale. we brought it because a round trip and back would be 10 hours. missing drivetrain. Though it looks ruff, it's perfect that way because I don' need to worry about body panels on a drift car. It as a usable 'wall hanger' of a Ramcharger hood that I will probably prop up the scoop so the K&N air cleaner will stick up through the opening.
Only in LA can the threat of drizzle cut down on the swappers and car count. Even with the diminished car count and swappers had a great time, we sold some good stuff and picked up some good stuff.

I think the serious buyers and sellers were still there.
You got some cool stuff for sure. Couple ram intakes, rare NOS carb, AG lid…
I got nice not pitted real clean A-body vent chrome, 4spd alum extension & cover, new repro parts that people had leftover from project for 1/2 or less new $, new tools $1 each, $20 383 intake

Cool video, I saw something that caught my eye just after the 33 minute mark. He said it was a Mexico 1872 Valiant Super Bee. What is interesting is the stripe over the top of the car. When I first purchased my 1971 Roadrunner, it had a very similar stripe. My car was an early build (8/17/70). I'm not sure if it was from a repaint, or a "different" stripe. I have attached a bad picture of the car in the early 80's. I sold the car soon after and purchased it back from the same gut 15 years later. During that 15 years, he painted the car and replaced that stripe with the normal '71 stripe. Just looking for more information on the stripe in the picture. Thanks, Jim

Roof strobe stripe available starting in 1971 model year. The stripe on the car looks like wider spacing than the factory stripe.

Thank you. Going to use it on the doors of my 71 Challenger.

Good amount of swappers there, but the buyers seemed to lack any swap meet edict and manners. One guy came by 4 times and offer me $50 for two pairs if Schumacker's motor mount bracket sets that were new and insisted mine were too expensive even when these retail for $220 a pair. he insisted the same brackets were all over the swap meet for $30. A really old guy yelled at me because I didn't want to sell my Charger or tell him what I payed for it. I sold enough to pay for the trip down, hotel costs and most of the transport cost for buying that dodge. I really appreciate the work the CPW members do to put on a show in California. Lookin forward to their next event.

There’s certainly a segment of amateur’s out there.
It’s a swap meet it takes all types.
This pile of ebody parts was bought by a group that traveled up from Mexico and we’re going to use the parts for their project cars.

Super loaded 70 Cuda 340 at Fall Fling. Original owner worked for Defense Dept in emergency response. Talk about taking your work home with you. Multiple CB’s, scanners, one fog light was setup for hi intensity, red/yellow light in back window, road flares, trunk hatchet, air horns….

Any word on Spring Fling dates yet? Need to get the time off from work.
Just take the time off anyway. It is an EMPLOYEE's market. How hard would it be to train someone to replace you? If they complain, tell them to piss off.
