I'm looking to replace of 20 year old 275 60 15 Cooper Cobra Radial GTs with "Made In USA" on the sidewall. The cheapest brand I can get is the Milestar StreetSteel produced in China I believe. Some other contenders are the Mastercraft Avenger GTs, Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s, and still not sure if I like the new lettering on the latest version of Cooper Cobra Radial GTs and I believe these three tires are produced in Mexico. The other tire I'm considering is the Hankook Kinergy GTs which is produced in Indonesia. Just wanted to know if anyone has any recent experience with any of these brands on their old rides here? This is would be a driver/cruiser anyways. Thank you for any help or information you might have.

mastercraft tires are junk.

I typically run Michelins or Hankooks. I did run some Kuhmo's on my Neon, not bad.

Not many tire companies make that size of tire these days.

Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T are good. I used to run the BFG Radial T/A's until the M/T tires came out. M/T is the better tire if the two.

I have 275/60-15 Coopers on three cars. I'm a blackwall out kind of guy though. I only like white letters on a some of the old classic tires (M&H Racemaster, Firestone Super Stock, etc.) White letters that say Kumho of Hankook don't really appeal to me.

I have Mastercraft Avenger GT's on my old police car, BSW out 235/70/15. I don't have any complaints but maybe I'm less picky than others. I like the American vintage looking tread pattern and American looking sidewall writing and the decent price.

Get the tire you want with a black wall and put the lettering on you want. I just found this site: www.tirestickers.com Can also get through Summit

Well the one set I ever had to deal with was on my daughter's Explorer when we bought it, they weren't avenger gt's. They had all the traction of a monkey with a greased football.

When we replaced them with a set of Michelin LT's the difference was so noticeable she even commented on it. Both ride and traction were substantially improved.

Off the top of my head, my fleet has the following:
Mastercraft Avenger GTs on 2 Road Runners
Milestars on the Breeze
Starfires on the Pathfinder
Bridgestones on the Dually
BFGs on the 4x4
Cooper Zeons (the max-performance Summer tires) on the Mustang
Goodyears on the car trailer

As you may guess, the local tire shop I like is Perfection Tire, a Cooper dealer; as you can also guess, I'd spend a fortune going top-shelf on all of the vehicles.

No problems to report, though one of the Mastercrafts needed a re-mount & balance so it look minimal balance weight on an aftermarket Magnum wheel.

I have Cooper CS5s(USA)on the wife's dd and Discovers on my truck(USA) Had many sets of Coopers in the past, zero issues with any of them. Had a set of BFGs on my B'cuda since mid 90s(245 and 225/60) Replaced them last year with another set(255 and 225/60R 15) Likely made in MX(I didn't check) but they mounted and balanced fine using a Hunter Road Force machine and the car drives excellent.

15s are tough...low demand.

My thoughts? Buy the Cooper or BFG...mount them blackwall(easy for me as I'm not a white letter fan) balance them on a good machine(Hunter) and enjoy! Good luck!

Right now I have Hankook Kinergy 275-60-15 on my beat up old RR. Nobody ever noticed that it's an SUV tire on a Ford wheel. I noticed for about a week, then they became just tires and wheels. I've had all kinds of tires over the years and like them all. I just used what was reasonable and easy to get. This last time it was between Hankook and Hercules, and Hankook was cheaper and had faster delivery, so that's how I decided.

The Hankook Kinergy is slightly more narrow than a Futura Super Sport (Cooper), which in turn is slightly more narrow than a BFG TA.
