I posted about using Mickey Thompson ET streets without tubes and many of you guys said to make sure you "soaped" down the insides first to prevent leaks. So....will any kind of dish soap do? Any preferences? Should it be diluted? If so, with just plain water? Thanks, in advance, for taking the time to respond.

Restoring a car to look "only" as good as the factory made it is like getting a boob job for your wife and having the doctor make them two different sizes to seem more natural

Should I let them dry for a couple days first and then mount them, or mount them wet?

I tried the soap trick last month for the first time on a set of used MT 10.5x31x15 bias ply drag slicks that didn't hold air real well at first That trick works oustanding I used Dawn dish soap straight out of the bottle in a small bowl and a sponge and dab it on all over the inside until there was no dry spots in the tire, I let it sit off the rim for around 30 hrs and then mounted the leaker up and inflated it to 25 lbs, it held that pressure for over three days with no loss of pressure at all I did the other tire three days later and had the exact same results Take your time and make sure and let it(the tires) sit at least over night before mounting the tires up and using them

I use Dawn or Palmolive dish soap on the inside of the slicks. Wipe it around all over the inside, with a rag. I do it twice, to each slick. I use about 1/2 to 3/4 of the big bottle, between both slicks. 32"x13.5Wx15". I mount them as soon as I am done soaping them up. Fill with air, install rim screws and spin balance. I have done this since the late 1980's. Works for me. They don't leak at all. In the 1980's and 90's. I used Mickey Thompson. Since 2004, I use Hoosier. I didn't race from 1997 untill 2004.
