I have my 1972 4 speed apart on bench for rebuild. Question is I have 2 different types of synchro lock rings a Pair of round and a pair of flat can anyone tell me anything about these and their orientation. thanks guys
I only buy MADE IN USA.

Either or ... just pop them in. Orientation doesn't matter.
I can't see the style of side cover you have but if its the good early model then you need to lop those tips off the shift forks.

I've never seen round rings in any older a-833 ever taken apart. Will they work? Can't say cause never used, or tried them. X2 ,,,, Never seen round rings in an 833.
4 speed street legal. Best time 10.99 @ 124 mph on 93 octane pump gas @ 3926# total weight

I can't see the style of side cover you have but if its the good early model then you need to lop those tips off the shift forks. Scissors dentent/interlock started in 71 so those would be correct for a 72 trans .
