Edelbrock #1413 800 CFM Carburetor , car will start up and run fine but if it sits for a month or two , actually 2 month's exactly the car will not start , disconnect the fuel line after the fuel pump and gas is squirting out everywhere , take the fuel line off from the carburetor and there is gas , take the top of the carburetor off and compleatly dry , so I assume the needles are sticking not allowing gas to enter the carburetor , my question is why? the carburetor was brand new when I bought it year and a half ago , I bought a new edelbrock needle and seat , one needle is black and one is red (the rubber tip part) is one a new style? as always thanks in advance for your help.

The gas in the bowl is evaporating out in that period of time. try priming the bowl vents & with a few accel pump squirts it should kick right off.

I even put gas in the primary side of the carburetor , it will run for a second or two then stop , and I am pumping the carburetor also when I am cranking it over , I have never had this problem with any other carburetor.

i would just start it up and let it run for a bit every 2 weeks then you wont have to worry bout the floats sticking

crappy gas now days evaps fast and will leave the carb full of a brown/rust colored grainualr crap that will cause the needles to stick

chewed mine up and cloged the airbleeds also

may need a good cleaning while you at it

blow all the passages out good and change needles and seats

my needles and seat had a nasty tarnish on all the brass parts along with the grit,a good soaking and air hose and it went right back to being trouble free

prime it or start it more often,IMO

good luck

Dribble some gas onto the bowl vent which looks like the business end of a hypodermic needle sticking straight up. Put enough in(~an ounce or so) to where you move the throttle & get a good gas squirt from the AP EDIT just use a small enough funnel or turkey baster etc so the gas goes into the vent & not washing down the cyls & get it full(not too much not too little)to where the AP makes a full stream
