I had that happen once to a 340. Hose couldn't have been more 3 years old. Looked like new it split from clamp to clamp. It was at full throttle and made a loud bang and a big cloud of antifreeze smoke. I thought for sure that there were going to be rods where there shouldn't be rods. The engine quit running immediately and I coasted Into an autoparts store parking lot. When I saw what the problem was I went inside and bought a bypass hose and they gave me a jug full of water.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

I like the ones Mopar sold that were red silicon in side and black rubber on the outside. I never had one of those go bad. Not sure if its still available since most of the MP parts are discontinued now. Looks like Mancini has them.....they used to be less than ten bucks. https://www.manciniracing.com/mopenbyphos.html
