Does Chrysler still use caliper pistons in new vehicles made from Phenolic instead of metal?

I am seriously considering buying a 2022 Grand Cherokee but I question the reliability for long trips.

Burned into my memory is swapping a rear caliper out on my old Grand Cherokee behind an out of state Advance Auto Parts store on a 95 degree day with 70 percent humidity on the way to a vacation house when the caliper decided not to release due to the ridiculous phenolic caliper pistons. The other rear caliper eventually needed to be replaced too for the same issue. This was on a vehicle with less than 40,000 miles at the time.

have not seen metal pistons since the 80's
most times its a collapsed hose not letting fluid back

all parts are sold as is, all parts are considered used no warranties or returns
paypal/check/money order, shipping is from zip 02891, buyer pays paypal fees 24% IRS 1099A plus 3% of part price, check/money order preferred
site is not monitored 24/7 there might be a delay in response

I had one do that on an 83 new yorker m-body.
it was a recall item too. so it wasn't the hose.
I was driving back to base when it locked up and I powered it to the garage so I could pull it. wouldn't budge till it cooled off.
they made it out of the wrong material and it had a different expansion coefficent. so it got bigger than the hole it was in.
haven't heard of any doing that lately though.

Friend of mine had a caliper hang up on her 2012 Grand Cherokee last year. Another hung up this year so she had them all replaced. That's a 10 year old Jeep w/120k miles on it. Other than that she LOVES that Jeep. Think you'll be OK for a while with the '22. Good luck!
